    Default Fleury get vote

Babcock could go to any of the three and could win. But any could have a bad game, and if that happens they're all goats.

Three world-class players, let's look at the case for each:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Martin Brodeur
    #30 / Goalie / New Jersey Devils
    Height: 6-2

    Weight: 215

    Born: May 06, 1972

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros: Experience, has the wins historically and is a living legend. He can bounce back from a bad outing
Cons: He just had a pretty bad outing, if it's 2 in a row the team looks foolish for having 2 world class options on the bench

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Roberto Luongo
    #1 / Goalie / Vancouver Canucks
    Height: 6-3

    Weight: 205

    Born: Apr 04, 1979

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros: Can be dominant. Just as skilled as anyone, and more importantly is arguably the steadiest and most consistent of the three options
Cons: Doesn't have much "big game" experience

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Marc-Andre Fleury
    #29 / Goalie / Pittsburgh Penguins
    Height: 6-2

    Weight: 180

    Born: Nov 28, 1984

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros: All the recent big games, and has won a lot. Knows what it's like to play behind a high octane team. Become a winner
Cons: The least consistent of the 3 and a bad game is not something they can gamble on. His next Olympic game will be his first. Still must be scarred by the last time he wore Team Canada colors

NHL playoffs are the big games for goalies, here's the stats for post-season play since the lockout.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Player Team GP MIN W L Series wins GA GAA SA SV SV% SO
    Marc-Andre Fleury PIT 49 2985 31 18 7 122 2.45 1446 1324 .916 3
    Roberto Luongo VAN 22 1465 11 11 2 51 2.09 731 680 .930 2
    Martin Brodeur NJD 32 1949 14 18 2 81 2.49 979 898 .917 3

Fleury's played nearly as many minutes as the other two have combined for and by far is first in wins. He's benefitted from having a good team in front of him, but the last time I checked Team Canada's pretty fair themselves. Luongo has had the weakest team to work with, but still has the best GAA and save percentage of all of them. Brodeur, for all his legend, really hasn't won that much post-lockout.

Any are capable, but a bad performance will have the Monday morning quarterbacks north of the border grinding their teeth.

    Poll
Who should Team Canada turn to in net?

Roberto Luongo -- he's the steady option that will come through

Martin Brodeur -- he'll bounce back and show why he's one of the best goalies ever

Marc-Andre Fleury -- he's a winner and will find a way to give Canada a lift

Luongo is getting the start tomorrow, although I would have been happy with Fleury (hell, even Osgood, just not Brodeur).

Babcock wasn't confused, that was the look he gets when contemplating if it's time for him to get a new piece of gum.

Although, his constant line shuffling is getting old and really annoying. No wonder nobody can get anything going - they keep having to adjust to other people and he wants short shifts.

The only problem with Malkin winning gold is that Ovechkin wins gold, and as long as he is on the team, no one else will get any credit.

he can't decide between Juicy fruit and trident. But he should go with extra.

I agree the Luongo is the guy, It is his home rink and don't forget that he one the world cup in 2004 playing for Canada and may have stolen a game in the semi final against the Czech's.

It will be better for us if MAF rests and MAF has the choke record in international play, 2004 world juniors.

That was a (n obviously lame) attempt at a joke - every time FSN shows him during games he's getting a new piece of gum.

I don't mind seeing Luongo. For someone who was supposed to be the go-to guy, Brodeur wasn't very impressive. And, you can't really base how Fleury (or Luongo for that matter) might perform on a tournament six years ago - look at what he's done since then, especially the past two years. He didn't earn that shiny ring on his finger by warming the bench.

There were also hints that there will be a changing of the guard on the Canadian defense, with veterans such as Scott Niedermayer, Chris Pronger and Dan Boyle getting reduced minutes and giving way to the likes of Drew Doughty, Duncan Keith and Shea Weber, with No. 7 man Brent Seabrook seeing more responsibility.

I'd change up Niedermeyer and Weber cause Nieds looks OLD and Weber is solid. Duncan Keith sucks defensively though. I mean, yeah,. Dan Boyle sucks defensively as well but Boyle > Keith offensively and both are useless on the D-side

Bingo. Which is EXACTLY why I'm rooting against Russia. I don't want Ovechkin to get a medal. I don't need or want to hear the media deep throating Ovechkin for months to come. I want Ovechkin to remain as he is - Overhyped without a championship trophy or olympic medal.

as we saw in the last game and afterwards. Malkin completely out produces Ovechkin, has the better game and all the media talks about or mentions is Ovechkin. Russia wins gold, Malkin won't get any credit, so screw Russia just because Ovechkin
