Default Malkin now credited with game winner last night

Malkin now credited with Penguins' winning goal
    Friday, March 05, 2010
    Shelly Anderson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The Penguins' winning goal in their 5-4 victory over the Rangers Thursday night in New York has now been credited to Evgeni Malkin.

Malkin took the shot for the overtime winner on a four-on-three power play. Originally, Jordan Staal was credited with the goal because it was believed he deflected the shot past Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. Staal told team officials afterward that he did not touch the puck, and an NHL review confirmed that.

I knew it was Geno. They showed the replay a few times at the end of the game and it was pretty apparent that jordan didn't touch it

I thought the same thing. Pretty good of Staal to say it wasn't me.

That was pretty cool. I thought it was pretty hard to tell on the replay.

It defintely took a different angle but it took that angle before you saw Stall's stick come into position.

Was that a Power Play goal?

I was surprised to hear this. I went to bed last night thinking it was Malkin the whole time. Then when I got up this morning, they said on the radio that Staal scored it. I thought they made a mistake. I'm glad that's all cleared up now, and I'm glad to know I was right all along.

    ****... that's what? 2 YP's in that game?

Was curious because Staal and Geno were on the ice at the same time and I remember being on the YP around that time. I know that Geno sometimes will double shift on the YP
