Pretty fair show last night. No Nutting is cheap, no harping on 17 losing seasons or trading all of their “good” players. The consensus was that the Pirates are going to struggle this year in fact all 3 panel members predicted a last place finish but they all said that this a team on the come.

I've actually been surprised by some of MLB Networks coverage of the Pirates this year. Granted, I've only caught the videos online but the analysts and such have treated the Pirates as nothing more than a team that had a losing record last season. they aren't using 17 years as some sort of crutch to hold them nor have they been making arguments that would need such a crutch.

I think it was last night, I watched a video online from MLB Network and they were discussing the Pirates starting rotation. After getting done listening, they really made you feel some sort of promise..

so kudos to MLB Network .

I love the coverage MLB Network has. Harold Reynolds and John Hart both agree that something had to be done to this effect and they've said so all along. I barely even turn on espn for baseball coverage.

The past week or so is the first time I've really paid much or any attention to MLB Network's coverage and have to admit that it's been pretty solid. Now, it could simply be a matter of MLB Network trying to do something like I don't know - promote all of it's teams positively since it is really a business but in any case it's good to know that there are some out there that can both think logically and rationally and don't spew forth words to generate hits and ratings.

I'll have to check it out some more. Thanks for the added headsup, Indy!

Being exiled isn't good for me.

I don't get the day to day talk about what people think about the coming year but just purely based off what I've read, maybe the people at MLB are half right.

Talent wise, there is a good core group of young players (yes, I know we've said that before) who just need to play and mature. McCutcheon from what I saw last year could be real good. Doumit is still fairly young and having Andy LaRouche out from his brother's shadow may make him better. Alot of people liked Garrett Jones.

We still have a fairly young staff. Maholm, Duke, Ohlendorf are getting the innings needed to learn to be effective pitchers. Having Joe Kerrigan around for another year will make an even bigger difference.

Yeah, it'll probably be another losing season. The question is, will the fans support them if they are at a minimum close in most of the games.

I watched some of the MLB preview. I saw where they had Neal Cotts making the team. I thought he was hurt.

Tomorrow (Wednesday's) game is a televised FSN game at 7:05 against Baltimore and also on MLB Network too.

Naturally of course, I think I'm going to miss the entire **** thing as everyone but me wants to move band rehearsal to tomorrow night

Watched it and was pleasantly surprised at what John Hart had to say. It was obvious he does not read Bob Smizik or he would have not spoken so well.
