Anyone care to speculate what happens when Hanrahan comes off the DL in about ten days or so?

    Some noteworthy news from Atlanta:

"You may also be interested to note (at the same link) that Atlanta has removed Todd Redmond from their 40-man roster and successfully passed him through waivers. Redmond is the RHSP prospect we had traded for Tyler Yates."

Todd Redmond performed very well for team USA (with Pedro and Lincoln) last season. I thought the Redmond for Yates trade was turning into a big mistake for NH.... Well, he passed through waivers so he obviously isn't that well regarded.

7th inning setup guy? I think Meek is the 8th-inning right-hander, Lopez the lefty. I'm not sure though. Will have to see how the first week plays out.

The point was, what happens to the 25 man roster? Someone on today's 25 man roster will have to be subtracted to make room for Hanrahan.

They might try to pass Penn through waivers again once everyone has their rosters set and the season is going. Should be worth noting that Penn passed through the whole league last year and got outrighted to AAA by the Marlins. Since he was outrighted once already he could opt out of his deal if he passes through again, but it doesn't seem that likely.

I think Raynor makes it because he could also play center if need be. Pearce had a fair shot last year and didn't do much with it. Between Moss, Hart and Vasquez not being on the team, I can say that Huntington in my opinion made the right calls. I would rather have a GM admit mistakes and not continue on with them than keep guys that are unproductive. Moss still hasn't been claimed and I don't believe he will be. Pearce has an option and Vasquez wasn't wanted by anyone either in a trade so now we will see what the rest of the league thinks of him. Still think 12 pitchers is stupid.

imho, unless Penn is 'lights out' (doubtful), he goes when Hanrahan comes back. Joel's being on the DL gives them a little more time to eval Hayden.
Of course, if Hayden does well, then it gets sticky.

Anyone notice that Kiko Calera got released?

As for Redmond, he never made it into anyone's top 20, be it Buccos or Braves. I think his apex was #26 for the Bucs.

Nobody has claimed Moss so far, so he may go to AAA. The Nationals needed a RF and they look to have passed on him. Heck, Dukes is still out there. Lotta 'stuff' out there. Nothing good tho.

I'm glad nobody is trying to stick up for Pearce this year by claiming his spirit was broken by Russell and the FO.

Some problems are better than others, don't you agree?

The new theory is that after Daniel McCutchen makes his start on April 11, activate Hanrahan, then see what happens on April 24. Penn will have a little while to show whether or not he belongs.
