    Default Brandon Moss trade coming

Rob Biertempfel is reporting on Twitter that Moss will be traded before the day is over. No one seems to have any other details, but apparently he's picked that up at the stadium today.

I would assume an announcement will come after the games end today as some player out there is going to have his day ruined. Someone apparently made an opening day roster and is now going to be sent down the next day to make room for Brandon Moss. Ouch.

I just mentioned this in the GDT.

Would be great if we got some sort of hidden gem for Brandon Moss and it makes the Jason Bay trade all good Tough to imagine that we'll get much of anything in return to get excited over

The writing has been on the wall for Moss for a while, he hit like .081 in spring training, my grandmother could hit .081. We'll most likely pick up a prospect I assume, it's no great loss, he's never hit for power, or average, having him around for almost 140 odd games last year was one reason we tanked.

Greg Brown just said that Moss cleared waivers and was assigned to Indianapolis. Someone's confused. For the record Dejan also reported yesterday that there was "sufficient" interest for him to be traded before even being put on waivers.

I think Dejan was a bit muddled; if there was interest he'd been picked up off of waivers.

The plenty of interest was from "Whiffle Ball Teams" needing him. Sounds like T.O.'s agent promoting him.

Once you send a guy like Moss down, who to be honest really isn't big-leagues quality, things will need to get pretty bad, either with injuries or the team stinking, to bring him back up, but that's the way it goes at this time of year I guess.

I hope that the dumb Pirates don't trade him for Albert Pujols, only.

The Cards would need to throw in a starting pticher to balance that deal!

Not really.....if Moss was claimed the Pirates could always pull him off and ask for a trade. Probably the only interest was from teams who wanted him for nothing. I think this is exactly the out come management wanted.

    Most likely.

They still think there's something in Moss and it's a matter of unlocking it. Who knows, keep him around 2 years in the minors and maybe he becomes the next Garrett Jones

    Now that's funny!!

But seriously, I think Moss' opportunity has passed. At this point going forward, his contribution will more than likely being a throw in on some minor deal.

Yep. I think that ship has sailed, unless he plays out of his mind in Indy. At least Huntington had the intestinal fortitude to cut Moss instead of keeping him on the big league roster; shows he isn't concerned about taking the PR hit for the Jason Bay trade, which at this point and probably for all time is a disaster. But again, if nothing else, I have to tip my cap to Huntington for his integrity. If Moss isn't good enough to make the roster on merit---as is clearly the case---well, then: off ya go, matey, you're walkin' the plank, regardless of who we traded to bring you aboard in the first place.

That's one of the most important things about Moss's demotion, the fact that Huntington is willing to accept failure for one of his won and not drag it out. A lot of GM's don't want to accept that they are wrong even when they blatantly are and that type of ego can sometimes hurt decision making.
