    Default Save! Save!! Save!!!

What a flurry by Fleury on the last regular season home game at the Igloo!

He may not be perfect, but he's ours and he has the reflexes of a cat!

    He's a big save machine!

I made a comment about those saves in the GDT... Fleury IS in my opinion the most ahtletically gifted goalie in the league. Hands down, I don't think anyone else is even close. Nobody can move east to west, get down into a butterfly and up as quickly as MAF can .... He should those abilities on this series of blocks. Fleury has always been able to pull these types of saves out of his ***....

It's the standard routine saves that you and me could make that MAF lets in

That was an awesome series of saves right there.

    Those were nice.

Makes me wonder how he ended up 35th in save % and 35th in GAA for the year.

IMO his lack of consistency can be attributable to a lack of focus during the whole game.

    But when playoff time comes...

That's all that matters. We're good enough where we don't need a goalie to stand on their head night in and night out which is good because I'd be complaining about the lack of talent on the ice then

Oddly though, his stats in the playoffs last year weren't all that great. They really mirrored his regular season numbers. He had a 2.61 GAA and .908 save % but we won the Cup

In 2007-08 Fleury's playoff numbers were awesome. Fleury steeped up his game big time after he came back from injury, mainly because of the competition that Ty Conklin provided to light a fire under MAF. He had a 1.97 GAA and .933 Save % in the playoffs in 07-08

Was it against the Bruins recently where he let in that crazy softy and then shut the door the rest of the game?

I'm with you on the athleticism. I've not seen a goaltender jump over pucks that are crossing the crease like Fleury. He's a lot of fun to watch, even if he's not perfect.

Yaaaaa! Fleury made 7 goals stand vs one of the worst teams in the league. That after he cost us the game vs the best team in the league! Way to rebound!

Maybe. I remember the game you're talking about. MAF definitely has a tendency to do that. Give up a softy and then stand strong which is good, you don't want a goalie that lets in bad goals and then loses all confidence. I think Fleury was that way earlier in his career, now I think at worst there are times when he'll let in a softy and over thinks which leads to another like the Crapitals game.

goalies are a completely different breed. When I played defense, my primary position, I always talked to my goalie, more than anyone. As a drummer in a rhythm section, to be a goalie and the defensemen are a rhythm section where you have to be on the same exact page. you have to know each others tendencies and like can often occur, sometimes there's just not a meshing of the 2 and it sometimes has less to do with talent as it does with a mindset. Goalies have a different way of thinking and approach. when you try to figure out their mental side, it can often be an adventure.

MAF likes action. He's always performed better the more action he sees and gets. It keeps him on his toes, keeps his body and mind fresh, prevents him from dwelling off into no mans adn which can happen

I haven't given up on MAF. I just thought we had turned the page to a new chapter after last years SCF's. ...I was wrong!

Well... if history repeating itself is good, then MAF is on a similar track as last year and that ended up working

    MAF sucks
The only player in the NHL more overpaid than MAF is Jordan Staal
