    Default Minor League pitching

Has anyone seen or heard how guys like Alderson, Adcock, Miller and Wilson looked? I have seen the linescores but haven't heard anything else. Wondering about velocity especially in regards to Alderson.

I listened to the game broadcast when Alderson pitched on the opposing team's feed since the Altoona one wasn't working. The announcer was amazed at how slow he threw. Not like 88-90 like your typical soft tosser, more like 85-86 with his fastball. The opposing hitters seemed way off balance, so I guess his command and the offspeed pitches were good. I think he allowed 4 hits, 1 was a bunt hit, 1 was a grounder that d'Arnaud dropped, one was hit on the other side against a shift, and the other just barely made it out of the infield.

That is not, in my opinion, what you want to hear about Alderson.

Adcock and Wilson both pitched really well...and Wilson has pitched pretty well from the 2nd half of last year on. I hope he can keep it up.

Not happy to hear that about Alderson. I don't think that is going to translate into success in the bigs.
Benny, you mentioned Wilson and Adcock, did you hear anything about Miller?

Alderson was/is working on mechanics so I believe velocity isn't a top priority at the present time.

I heard the same thing regarding his delivery. They are trying to eradicate that little goofy kick midway through his delivery in hopes to get a little more speed on his fastball. He was all on board with the tinkering.

He still has the hitch but it has been smoothed out a bit.

I thought that the Pirates tried to change his delivery last year and now he was going back to his old delivery to try and regain velocity.

It retarded his progress by at least one full year.

He's pitched better than I thought he would after seeing him in ST.
