Default Rumor: Rams Offer Top Pick for Roethlisberger

"WPXI sports reporter John Fedeko got wind of a rumor that the St. Louis Rams offered the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft as well as their first-round pick next year for the troubled Steelers star.

WPXI is the Pittsburgh area NBC affiliate.

It should be noted that this is just a rumor at this point and the compensation seems awfully steep, but the Rams could certainly a top caliber quarterback."

IF the offer really is out there...the Steelers should take it. That helps the team get out from under a troubling situation...it also brings a good return...furthermore, it shows no racial favoritism. I dunno...IF the Rams really offered this? I would take it...I'd daft Bradford...pay him less than Ben...and be happy.

I'd ask for their 3rd rounder too (just to be greedy)

HOWEVER...with what I said above in mind...the steelers aren't going to do that:

SI.com's Peter King and ESPN's Adam Schefter both shot down rumors Tuesday night of a potential Ben Roethlisberger trade.
Internet rumors were flying in earlier in the day that had the Rams sending the No. 1 overall pick and next year's first-rounder for Roethlisberger. To which King responded on Twitter, "This nonsense must stop. Ben's a Steeler." Schefter said there's a better chance of him going to the Rams than Big Ben. Though local feelings have changed toward Roethlisberger, it's hard to picture him getting dealt.

Have we confirmed or denied this?

It's interesting on a lot of levels. I think Bradford is gonna be the **** in a few years but the few years of Hines career and Randell El's would suck with a rookie.

My gut feeling is Ben is going to stay in Pittsburgh....my gut feeling is usually on the money and rock solid- but this time I sense there is something big going to happen. Coaching change, Ben traded, etc. I think the FO is really upset.

It does seem to have a certain uncertainty about it.

I am more and more getting the impression he either lied to the Rooneys or royally ****ed them off. Neither one is good for him.

Hold out for the Rams first three picks this year and see what others offer.

And then, don't take Bradford, just load up on the talent that three additional picks among the top 65 players brings you and then there are the Steelers picks, which would give them 6 picks among the top 82 players!!!

(We could have Suh, Pouncey/Iupati, and Odrick before the 34th choice is made!)

    Go for it Rooneys.

Yeah, you know there is something very iffey about everything and that's what makes me uncertain about everything but what makes me feel like Ben is staying is the meeting he had with the Commissioner of the NFL. The statement that the Steelers and the NFL Commish agreeing on 2-4 game suspension with the exact amount of games to be determined later, is the proof to me anyway that Ben is probably staying in Pittsburgh. Plus the fact that I think the Steelers probably have been sending out feelers to the rest of the NFL and can't get anything that would satisfying the Rooney's for Ben, a franchise qb.

    You're probably right.

I was kinda excited at the prospects though.

I guess so. I posted an article somewhere in a Ben thread where it was reported that the Commissioner's office and the Steelers are likely to agree on 2-4 suspension for Ben.....though nothing is "official" yet they will decide what to do at a later date.

I am trying to find the article but through all the threads, I can't find it.
