Default This man is a hero!

Erick Borgman saw some punks steal some beer from a store. Rather than sit idly by, he did what any red-blooded American male would do....he rescued the stolen suds. His local police department needs to hold a Hans Solo/Luke Skywalker medal-type ceremony for him....

    Good Samaritan Rescues Stolen Beer
by Mitch Martin on April 15, 2010

[IMGR]http://i41.tinypic.com/o56lh3.jpg[/IMGR]I like beer probably a little bit more than your average joe but this guy really went above and beyond.

Erick Borgman witnessed a hoodlum steal a couple of half-racks of beer from a family friend’s store and decided to give chase. Borgman chased them to an SUV and attempted to tell the driver to stop.

The Tahoe drove away — but Borgman jumped onto the running board and grabbed a railing on the roof of the vehicle as it headed south on Lander Avenue. After the SUV had driven about a half-mile, Borgman said the suspects in the back seat of the SUV punched him several times in the face through the vehicle’s open window. “They were going pretty fast and hitting me pretty hard,” Borgman said.

As Borgman was hanging onto the SUV, his father, James Borgman, followed the suspects in his truck as they turned onto Highway 140. As the Tahoe reached speeds of about 80 mph, the younger Borgman climbed onto the SUV’s roof and began pounding on it.

Borgman’s Dad who was trailing in his own vehicle was finally able to get in front of the SUV and get it to slow down enough to allow Erick to jump off. Shortly after deputies were able to stop the SUV and arrest the occupants.

Good job by Erick. I hope that family friend the owns the store gave him some free beer as a reward for risking his life over 12 Tecates and 12 Budweisers.

Wow, what kind of beer would make someone jump onto a vehicle going 80 mph? Bud light w/ lime?

Rescuer pulls mom, 2 kids from car in Minn. pond
    The Associated Press

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says a state highway first responder rescued a Twin Cities woman and her two children after the mother drove their car off a highway and into a pond.

A department spokesman says the emergency worker, Don Machacek, arrived at the pond in Richfield, just south of Minnesota, Wednesday afternoon to find the vehicle "nose-first and sinking."

He says Machacek opened a rear passenger door and pulled the three to safety. The car continued to sink.

The woman and her children, ages 8 and 10, are OK.

The dramatic rescue was recorded by a traffic management camera.

The spokesman says the driver misjudged her exit from the Interstate 35W.
