Pens' Lovejoy recalled, Leopold is day-to-day
    Saturday, April 17, 2010
    Ray Fittipaldo , Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Penguins have recalled defenseman Ben Lovejoy from their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farm team for Sunday's Game 3 against the Ottawa Senators.

Lovejoy was recalled because defenseman Jordan Leopold is day-to-day after being hit by Ottawa defenseman Andy Sutton in the Penguins 2-1 victory against the Senators in Game 2 Friday night.

Leopold did not take part in the Penguins optional skate Saturday morning and was not at Mellon Arena before the team departed for the airport.

"He will be re-evaluated today again," Bylsma said. "He's definitely going to be day-to-day. He's not going to be on the ice [Saturday] or [Sunday]."

Jay McKee, who had been relegated to a reserve role for the past few weeks, is expected to take Leopold's place in the lineup with Lovejoy joining the team in case of an emergency.

"Not only has he been a big part of our defense the whole year long, but the number of games and the experience he has in these types of situations is something we have already drawn upon from him, and he'll have to draw upon when he gets in there," Bylsma said of McKee.

No love for Eaton? I think he plays a steady game for us. If you don't hear his named mentioned then he is doing his job. I think a physical series like this is perfect for Mckee and he will be a good partner for Gogo.

I would rather have Lovejoy be the 7th and on the bench if need be right now. I wish McKee would finish the series dressed no matter what, his block shots and defence is better then Eaton or Leo was doin, and it still upsets me that McKee probably the second best defensive dman we have is on the bench.

I want as much experience on the ice right now as I can get which easily means ... Jay McKee >>> Ben Loevejoy

Lovejoy/Goligoski pairing scares the **** out of me

I'm no Eaton fan, by any means, but IMO he's been fine so far in the playoffs.

Is it me or does it seem like Eaton and Letang both look better when they are paired with one another?

I thought McKee did a decent job.

Hell, even Goligoski grew a set for this series. They all played decently in games 2 and 3. There are still some hiccups, but it's getting better as the playoffs progress.

I'm just glad we can say its gettin better instead of worse, cuz if that was the case, it would be that very fast spiral downward to failure. I think all D has looked decent so far, I just hope they do keep getting better
