    Where's Drew?

Looks like San Jose is doing what they annually do... find ways to kill themselves in the playoffs after being one of the best and most dominating teams during the Regular Season.

And this is why nobody ever talks about San Jose anymore as a Stanley Cup contender even though they finish at the top of the west almost every season. It's amazing how a team that is so good in the regular season year after year chokes the way they do in the playoffs year after year. If they're not getting outplayed by the other team they're doing something stupid or fluky to beat themselves.

They are only down 2-1, but man, they outshoot the Avs by something like 52-17 and lost on a crazy fluke goal 1-0 in OT. That team is cursed. Imagine what we would be saying if this were a sharks board?

Cursed might be the right word. It's like anything that can happen against a team happens to the Sharks in the playoffs.

It is just unreal. The last couple years I was thinking that it HAD to be the year for the Sharks to at least make a deep playoff run. Then I see something like that. I was in total shock when it happened. I can only imagine how it feels to be Sharks fan. Actually, I'm betting it feels like being a Pirates fan in '90, '91, and '92.

I don't know, those Pirate teams at least made it to the NLCS. These Sharks can't even make it out of the first round.

Back in those days, there only was NLCS. There were four division (2 NL, 2 AL.) If you didn't win the division, you simply didn't make the playoffs. It was one round of playoffs, then World Series, so the Pirates failed to make it out of the first round those years.

That being said, I would have to say that it doesn't compare at all. The Pirates would have been a number one seed playing a 2 or 2 seed playing a 1. They lost to quality teams. Sharks, on the other hand, are playing weeker teams that barely made the playoffs. Number 8 seeds. In fact, when you think about it, they're losing to teams that finished in the bottom half of the conference standings!
