    Default Grade Our O-Line

I'm curious how everyone feels about the O-linesmen with their individual effort.
From a scale of 1 thru 10 what's your grade for these guys ?

    Starks 8
    Kemo 6.5
    Hartwig 4
    Essex 3.5
    Colon 6.5

When I averaged out my grades for these guys I came up with 5.7 in points average. Our O-line is just average. I think I might even have Starks too high with an 8, I could see him as a 7 too.

    I'd give Willie Colon a 1 and Starks a 4

I'd drop Starks to a 7 (as you said)...
    Kemo... 6
    Hartwig... 3
    Essex... 5
    Colon... 2

Colon has too many repeated penalties, Hartwig can't stop the rush in the middle, and Starks/Kemo/Essex has done "alright", I guess... Based on my numbers, the line averages 4.6 which is "less than average"... And to be honest, that is also what I think of it.

Do you see Kemo getting better ? As far as Kemo what do you think of him so far as in strengths and weaknesses ? I thought he had some real good games then he would follow up with some lack luster performances. What made Sapps say that Kemo was the worse guard or a lousy guard that he ever seen ? I think theat was Kemos first season as a starter. Wonder if he feels the same about him ?

I think Kemo is OK and will improve.

Here's where I get back to one of my theories from last season.

Colon is frequently caught offsides of penalised for movement, not to mention criticised for missing assignments. However, I postulate the following: Some of that is due to Buggy Boy. FOr one thing, isn't the line supposed to take its cues from the C? What if Colon is anxious about the situation, Buggy Boy gives a signal and is then so slow getting the play away that COlon is judged to go pre-emptively.

Then there are the plays that go on. Colon might miss a few, but I think he ends up often trying to take some of the slack created by Buggy Boy and his ability to make the line implode in the middle. Colon has one assignment and Hartwig getting buried on a regular basis leaves two assignments for someone. I suspect that some times, Colon is caught between two objectives and as a result gets hung out to dry.

With the possible advent of a new C, it could be interesting to see how Colon does with the possibly changed play conditions.

I think it very difficult to grade our O-line with Arians in the picture. It's like grading the performance of your engine when some ****ing idiot keeps putting water in the gasoline!

how did you come up with the name buggy boy ? i have to agree, a stud center or at least a good center would do wonders for this line.

I'll hold off on my assessment until I see what Kugler does with the line.Remember,we had a moron as an OL coach the past few years.................and the Arians factor isn't much better.
