UPDATE 10:58: Per RDS via HNIC’s Elliotte Friedman tweet, Staal is done for the year after tendon surgery.

That sucks! Injuries are part of the equation. The Pens were fortunate last year (outside of Gonch missing a couple of games.) At least it's not Sid or Geno or MAF. The Pens do have some depth at center. Just no one that big! Now we'll get to see how valuable Staal really is. Someone better teach Geno how to win a faceoff.... and quickly!!!!

Was listening to starky while cutting the grass. One player said it might be easier to lose a Malkin or Crosby than Staal. Find that hard to believe, but it was interesting to hear from a player saying that

Definitely RT @PHTonNBC Interesting. RT @FriedmanHNIC: Some Penguins players said they heard Staal would be back. Waiting for Bylsma now.

Calling Mister Adams, Mister Craig Adams, can you play 5-7 more even strength shifts a night?

The only player in the NHL more overpaid than MAF is Jordan Staal

It is possible I mean we don't really know yet, he hasn't missed a game since he got here I think. They did seem to be in their end more often after he went down. Could be coincidence I don't know. This isn't the end of the playoffs for us gotta keep playing, others will step up but yeah, this blows.

    Pittsburgh Penguins pghpenguins

Staal had surgery to repair lacerated tendon in foot - No time frame for return, but not ruled out: http://bit.ly/c4GlB6

This sucks donkey balls. The best penalty killer in the league is gone. The biggest advantage we had on other teams was size and depth at center
