    Default Halak

Right now Halak is the difference. The Pens keep dominating, outshooting and getting better scoring chances yet are down to a best of 3. This is looking all too familiar to the Habs/Caps series. Halak stats are unreal. At this point, the series is up for grabs and even with the Pens out playing/skating the Habs, Halak is the antidote

UUUMMM Wrong !!! The Difference is Fleury ****ting the Bed !!outshot them 24-8 through 2 Periods & they were only up a goal because of Fleury's HORRIFIC goal he gave up early !! Also Letang whiffing on a WIDE OPEN net

I agree on the horrid goal given up, well actually the 2 horrid goals.

Now, they didn't show a replay, but it looked to me like a Mont. player got his stick in there and lifted Letang's stick enough to cause him to whiff on that shot.

Not to take anything away from what Halak has done, but I agree with EVILPENS that the REAL difference is Fleury. He has got to quit giving up soff goals. The first two goals he gave up in Game 4 where horrible.

The first one was the very definition of soff goal.

Well, if Letang would put it in the right net

Look on the bright side - you're only 2-2, and last year you guys won two best of threes. And you can always steal Franzen's Wheaties for Fluery.

Fluery needs to be more consistant, and I dont believe the shot totals are accurante, I think they add shots that are blocked by the Habs d-fence, and the shots that do get through, 99% of the time are shots that a high school goalie could make, because they are right into the chest, or the Pens are forced to make bad angle shots and stuff.

He'd miss them, knowing how MAF has been playing

Yea Fleury had a bad one on that first goal but that wasnt the difference of the game. Those two goals in the third definately sucked. That first, somehow Fleury got caught up and wasnt able to get over in enough time, lets not pretend that just because the puck went in that Lapierre made this highlight reel goal. Then you just have this bad luck goal off of Letang's skate right afterwards. What disappointed me was I didnt see anywhere near the level of urgency the Pens should have had in the remaining 16 minutes of the game, and how many PP chances did they get to tie it up? Oh well game 5 is gonna be massive in its importance, could you imagine the media and forums if the Habs are up 3-2?

Fluery needs to play better but they flat out need to put the puck in the F'in net. This offensive zone time and SOG advantage is fine but it doesn't mean squat if you can't get the puck past the goaltender.

Yeah, I'm tired of beating the "Fleury is inconsistent" horse. If you don't realize that by now, then you aren't watching. I've made my thoughts on MAF well known, now its just depressing. He was going pretty good there for awhile, so I didnt want to say anything and jinx him, but in the back of my head I knew a game like this was coming.
The only player in the NHL more overpaid than MAF is Jordan Staal

Sure Fleury has been inconsistent... And it's freakin' maddening...

But with comments like "Halak isn't good, and a high school goalie can stop those shots" and "the shot totals aren't accurate because they reflect blocks" sorta contradict what's happening in my opinion....

OK, Halak isn't good...... Then why aren't we putting more past him?

OK, a beginner goalie can stop these shots...... Then why aren't we shooting up to our potential?

OK, the shot totals are inflated..... Then why aren't we getting more attempts?

..... I think we've played well (minus the MAF brainfarts), and I also think Halak has played well enough to keep his team in the hunt. Whether you like him or not (I do not), the fact that he's stopped an awful lot of our shots means he's doing his job IMO.

MAF always gives up softies when he is not facing that many shots. This is not a good match up for him. I can't get that bent out of shape when it's only 3 goals. We have a couple of the best players in the world we should be able to make up for that. If he is letting in 5/6 goals then by all means lets call for his head! I just can't hate on MAF sry. Even if it comes down to one save in the 3rd period of game 7, somewhere along the line he is going to save the series for us... well he already did pitch a no hitter. Inconsistent? I guess I mean the whole team is pretty inconsistent. Do we have to blame every loss on the GT?

My point about Fleury is that many people put the elite or great tag on him and its just not true....he's overrated. Halak on the other hand is the biggest reasonthe Habs beat the Caps and are tied with the Pens. Give the other team or other teams player some credit instead of blaming the Pens

Fleury may be inconsistent at times, but I personally don't view him as over rated...

... He's had some great games, and some mistakes as well... He's also won several for us... He also did a helluva job last season, and we'll only go as far as he performs this season.
