    Default Doumit game winning homerun

Ryan Doumit hits his 4th homerun today, a game winning blast to right in the bottom of the 10th to give the bucs a 3-2 victory. Also of note, im pleased with what pearce has been doing. Good enough defensively and he might not be getting hits all the time, he is putting good wood on the ball. I hope the hits will follow. I am sick of seeing iwamura out there but he did get 2 hits today. Looks like walker will stew for another week in AAA.

This team has no business winning as many games as it has.
On paper they should still be struggling for double digits in the W category.

At times they look like a bad little league team.
Milledge and Jones can't seem to catch a ball cleanly unless it's hit right at them.
Double plays just don't happen anymore.
The lead off guy is hitting below .200.

Yet, six other teams have worse records.
Including the Mariners who made all the off season moves people would love to see the Bucs make.

I think a base is there and we could see some winning baseball sooner rather than later, if fundamentals show their pretty face along with the increased talent that should be on the way in coming years.

Doumit only hits big HRs. One that won it against Hoffman, one that tied it against Hoffman, and the walkoff against Saito. The other one was kind of meaningless, but it was that 3 run shot opening day to make it 11-5.

One thing this team is (outside of this series against Atlanta) is pretty good at hitting with runners in scoring position. The Pirates believe it or not are a Top 5 team in the "Clutch" this season in all of Baseball. On the flipside what they aren't very good at is getting On Base. I didn't really realize just how bad they were until I sat at the game Saturday and was checking out the stats on the Scoreboard and noticed how pretty much the entire lineup had very low OBP numbers. the Pirates also have a a bottom 3 BABIP offensively which suggests IMO that there's also been some bad luck in balls being hit right to gloves etc...

When you do well in the clutch, that can help overcome some of the ugly and it also helps to maximize the chances the team has
