Default Jonathan Van Every reacquired..... Tabata callup imminent?

he will go back to Indianapolis. Indy has Brandon Moss, Brandon Jones, and Jose Tabata and some other scrub in the OF.

Is a callup of Jose Tabata now imminent?

I am starting to think NH's comments on not bringing up Tabata and Lincoln are a bit of a charade. I think there is a concern that keeping players in the minors b/c of their super two status could be a legit cause for a grievance by the players union or Boras types.

Keeping a player in AAA until super two is cleared is not a violation of the letter of the law but it probably is a violation of the spirit of the law.

Paying lip service to players needing to improve and delaying the callup for a bit could make a grievance more difficult. I think we'll see Lincoln and Tabata soon. I suspect we will see Alvarez after the other two.

If Tabata is called up, that makes a crowded OF. Cutch, Jones, Tabata, Milledge, Church, and Young. I suspect that Church or Young could get traded for some beads and ********. They could just DFA Aki but releasing Aki indicates a pretty big commitment to Walker.

Tabata should replace Milledge. He's not a 5-tool player and has been rather disappointing considering his 1-time hype. Walker is doing well. Will have to wait until the opponents develop a book on him and see if he can adjust. I certainly hope so. Aki is worthless IMHO.

Trading for Van Every doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Tabata. Indy's been playing a man short for a while now. They've been forced into using Brandon Moss in CF and Kevin Melillo all over the OF the last couple weeks. Van Every basically takes back his own spot since he was never really replaced.

With regard to Tabata, I've always liked the guy, but when I look at him right now I see Lastings Milledge. ISO at .100, below average walk rate, below average line drive rate, tons of ground balls. Tabata's actually walking less and striking out more in AAA than Milledge is in the MLB. Tabata's just been more hit-lucky (BABIP over 40 points above his career number). It's hard for me to get excited about that right now.

Maybe they are going to get rid of Moss.

Van Every was essentially traded for himself.

Indy does need the extra manpower, and I, too, think Tabata's going to be called up pretty soon...

As to the Super Two status, that time has already passed - now the only thing to worry about is service time.
