    Default Instruments corner.

Since some of us seem to have been musicians at some point, I thought I'd start an equipment/weapons thread.

The Warlock was always a cool looking guitar. It was one of those guitars that even if you sucked badly (and I swear 7 out of 10 people I ever heard use one sort of sucked), you looked cool as **** though

    Amp, head and pedals/board?

I've only got a little practice amp at the moment (hoping for the finances to get a decent head/cab) but I use a Boss DS2 Turbo Distortion pedal.

Here's my bass & amp... Haven't played in public for a while, but used it to make quite a bit of spending money while in college...

Nice gear, NKy! I like Peavey.

On the other hand, I've always had hassles with Trace Elliott. Odd, that...

Now if someone can tell me how to copy a VHS tape to a digital downloadable media, I'll post some film of me in action back in the '90s....

... But only if Kipper posts some of that footage with himself getting comfy with the feather boa!...

That is very metal type of Pedal if I remember. a ton of mid-high mid tight distortion. I remember helping my current guitarist look for pedals. Someone at one of the music stores sold him an "Uber Metal" pedal. I hated the sound of it and it definitely wasnt the sound he wanted. He was trying to shoot for a "John Sykes from Slid it in/self titled Whitesnake era" sound but without using a Les Paul. Not sure how he ended up with an "uber metal" pedal . So I got him to get the Boss DS-1 and DS-2. The DS-1 is used by a ****load of guitarists but the SD-2 has a wider range of distortion. Problem is that you can't quite get the real ncie warm crunchy distortion of the DS-1 so you need both... and then also the Boss SD-1 which is an overdrive pedal. The SD-1 is used by a ton of guitarists. It gives that oldschool distortion (not fuzz distortion) that the blues players all used where it sounded like a clean guitar played through an amp that had a blown out head. Just screams!...

It's a colossally metal pedal, to be honest. It can be surprisingly good if you rein it in, too. I was considering getting a tube amp emulator pedal when I get it together and get a sensible head/cab combo. Or maybe just try to get an old tube amp.

I used to have a fave in the old practice rooms. It was a mid-70s Marshall. Beat up, starting to fall apart (well, the casing was), but the sound you could get out of it, even with a cheap set-up was stunning. Nice, warm bass.

    Happy days!

Nice thing about doing this Consolidation is that I get the chance to see every thread again and I have no choice

Mentioning that old Marsha,ll amp made me think about something. A lot of people don't know that when musicians record and such they often use something that isn't current and sometimes not even something that they endorse. I know that there's a ton of guitarists that will use big *** Gibson's with some standard old Tube screamers and these old warm amps to record with. Drummers have always been good for using a mish mash of drums and often times you find they will use up to 5 different snare drums per album, all different brands sometimes

When it comes to older stuff, I actually like the sound of older cabinets/speakers than newer ones. There's mroe warmth and less refinement especially when the sound you are trying to get is a little warmer, a little thicker and fuller

Loving the skins, kinsar. Very nice and very sharp.

Not a musician right now, but when I was in school I played in the band. I was a baritone player, in the low-brass section. Can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. But just was not what I wanted to do the rest of my life. However, one day I'd like to buy a used baritone and pick it back up. There is so much music out there I enjoyed playing, and want to play.
