Default Worst lineup of the year? (6-11)

I've been going on all year about how terrible most of Russell's lineups have been to the point where I kind of gave up on it. Until today, that is.

    1. Andrew McCutchen, CF
    2. Neil Walker, 3B
    3. Ryan Doumit, 1B
    4. Garrett Jones, RF
    5. Ryan Church, DH
    6. Lastings Milledge, LF
    7. Aki Iwamura, 2B
    8. Ronny Cedeno, SS
    9. Jason Jaramillo, C

    1. Where is Tabata? If it's not injury-related that's inexcusable.
    2. Walker is trying to become an MLB starting 2B, so he's moved to third for the day to make room for Aki Iwamura?
    3. Doumit is a terrible defender at C and a terrible defender at 1B. Church's only value to the team is in the field. Jones moves to right, and Church DHs so Doumit can try to play first?

asdfjlasdfhkalsdfjas I'm going insane right now. Seriously.

It looks like Russell just drew some names out of a hat.

I just saw this lineup at the plus site and was coming over here to rant. I couldn't agree more.

And putting Walker at 3B is infuriating. There is no reason to consider this guy anything but the second baseman of the future. Its asinine. Treating Walker like a utility scrub is disrepectful to the player especially after what he has done for the Pirates (and their fans) so far. Why not put Aki at third if you gotta play him? He can't freakin turn a double play. Walker has proven more than capable at turning two.

    Tabata on the bench?

Russel doesn't get a free pass anymore. No more hiding behind a lousy team for an excuse. I hope some one aggressively questions him on this (Dejan?). There's just no excuse.

You guys are missing the strategy behind all of this. Russell has Aki Iwamura playing second because the Pirates are in an American League city. Now Aki will shine because of his familiarity with the AL. He is being showcased. Just think, Russell could have put LaRoche at third.

    1. Couldn't agree more. He showed me more in two games than Milledge in his Pirate career.

    2. Aki should only be in the stadium as a paying customer. All I can say is at least Lacrotch is out of the lineup, maybe the Pirates are gearing up for a move. Otherwise when Pearce is due back SUCKI gets DFA'd.

    3. Doumit kills them in the field. Again, why wasn't this something they worked on in spring training instead of giving the job to Cement Clement. I watched 38 year old Pudge last night behind the plate and kept thinking how much better he was than Doumit at his age. I do wonder if this is NH or JR making the calls.

One last point. I heard Neal talking about Lincoln needing to throw the change up more in triple a. I want one reporter to ask him, who is calling the games in triple a, certainly Lincoln wasn't calling the pitches, so why wasn't the manager, the pitching coach or the catcher calling for more change ups. The reasoning given by Neal doesn't make sense to me. I agree, some writer needs to ask some questions about tonight. Maybe Sucki with come down with Hamstring fatigue and go on the DL for the rest of the year. Bring guys up and then don't play them. I don't get it. Maybe Tabata is a "utility corner outfielder" god knows it would be hard to beat the production of Milledge and Church.
