Copying my post from the GDT:

It has the makings of a legit ML lineup, from 1-6 that is.

I like putting Doumit in the middle, break up the lefty-lefty-lefty if need be and take some heat off Pedro, to start. Although hopefully soon they'll bump Pedro up so he can see more fastballs. I don't think managers will see Milledge as very good lineup protection for him.

Sorry bro. I agree that 6th is ok now. but he'll have to move up eventually. Innings where he's leading off there will be 3 pretty easy outs behind him. Except when Lincoln is pitching

    No need to apologize.

Either place is a good spot for a discussion on it.

Crosby gets the start at SS. Cedeno has worked hard to earn himself a spot on the bench. Wonder if this will last more than one game?

I'd feel a lot better if the "Crosby" starting tonight was "Sid."

He'll be the #4 hitter soon. no need to rush him there in his first game in the pro's, against a lefty. I'm happy they are batting him 6th. They said he'd be put into the heart of the lineuip and I feared Russell would throw him into the #4 spot instantly.

Let him get acclimated, his first month of struggles he usually goes through after promotion out of the way, then he should be ready to move up. Russell will probably bat him #4 by next week

That has the look of an actual MLB lineup. Andy isn't bad as a bench player spot starter for 2B or 3B. SS is still a concern and nobody on the immediate or even near horizon that shows the signs they would be shoe in performers.

My main concern is pitching at this point. I could be wrong, and hope I am, but it seems to me the most critical piece of the equation is starting pitching and we seem to have no true ace of the staff or even #2 guy. Seems like we got a nice group to select from for the 3-4-5 spots. So how do we build a team and actually challenge for the pennant when probably the closest thing we have toward being a staff ace is 18 years old and not even signed to a major league contract at this point? Lets say we sign both and things go smoothly with their journey through the minors. That would still be probably 3 even 4 years away. And even if they debut in 3 or 4 years it will take them a bit to acclimate unless one of them is the next Strasburg or something.

I guess my biggest concern is that, and SS. I would like to see a RF with more power even if the average suffered some. We need more power out of some of these current guys like Doumit & Jones.

Things I am really enjoying seeing right now are the successes of the young guys even if there are some pains along the way. Tabata seems to be the real deal. Gotta love watching McCutchen.

I could see that lineup growing to the point where they score something near a league average number of runs (~4.5 per game). Unfortunately the way the pitchers have performed they'd still be getting outscored by a full run per game. Alvarez playing third probably isn't going to help in that area.
