Default Jaroslav Halak to the Blues for Lars Eller and Ian Schultz...

This is how you repay the goalie that stood on his head for you in the Playoffs ????

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Thursday the club has acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forwards Lars Eller and Ian Schultz.

“Jaroslav’s play in this year’s regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs was remarkable,” said Davidson. “He has had very impressive numbers in the NHL and we are thrilled that he will be wearing the Bluenote for us.”

If I were a Habs fan, I would riot. When I first saw that the Blues got Halak, I thought they were getting someone like Oshie or Perron in return. For right now, they definitely got jipped.

Wow.... talk about getting absolutely nothing in return. With that crappy return they were definitely better off sticking with Halak

Very true. Which is fine. It'll keep the Stanley cup "glory" that the Canadiens feel they are entitled to as a distant thing in the past until they decide to catch up with the times

WOW!!! ....Salary cap issues! I guess the Habs got something for someone they were going to lose anyway. Too bad they couldn't trade Price.

Since I hate the Habs fans, I have to laugh at all the suckers who recently purchased Halak jerseys!...

What happened to Chris Mason? I thought he was STL's goalie of the future?

How did the 2 of you come up with that bull****? Have you looked at the habs roster? The Leafs? The Canucks? Shake your head boys. Halak was an arbitration eligible RFA. It was a business decision.

Maybe they are choosing to try to keep Tom Jagr Plekanec over Halak.

Im a bit surprised, ok more than a bit but Im sure the thought was they could get more for Halak then they could for Price. So in that sense I can understand a little.

The Habs are loaded with goalies they have Curtis Sanford and "wonder goalie" and AHL All-Star Cedrick Dejardins at Hamilton. Then there's 6'8" Jason Missiaen, a draft pick who plays in the OHL for the Peterborough Petes. So yes, keeping Plakanec was on the Habs mind. Price is no slouch. He was a #5 pick overall. He won a Calder Cup, Calder Cup MVP, World Jr and World Jr MVP all in the same year. And he's only 22 years old. Price could be a better goalie than MAF... even with less talent surrounding him.

BTW: Lars Eller was a 2007 First Round draft pick, #13 overall.

Remember Christobal Huet? The former Habs goalie who was the cats *** now sitting on the Hawks bench eating up 5.625million in cap space for the next 2 years? The Habs can't afford both, they went with Price because Halak's value is high and they got a very good prospect and another decent prospect in return.

And Huet was overpaid as well. Halak had a handful of decent games in the playoffs, someone is going to overpay him.
