Pirates option Jaramillo, Thomas to Indianapolis
    Sunday, July 11, 2010
    By Dejan Kovacevic, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
MILWAUKEE -- The Pirates optioned backup catcher Jason Jaramillo and left-handed reliever Justin Thomas to Class AAA Indianapolis immediately after the game this afternoon.

"JJ just needs to play," manager John Russell said of Jaramillo, batting .164 through 24 games. "Ryan's been healthy, which is a great thing for us. But it's kept JJ from staying sharp."

Ryan Doumit has not been injured this season.

General manager Neal Huntington, on his radio show earlier this afternoon, identified Indianapolis' Erik Kratz and Class AA Altoona's Hector Gimenez as candidates for promotion. No move will be made until later in the week.

I think this is a precursor to an upcoming Doumit trade.

Nah....I think this is just so Jaramillo can get some playing time. Who is going to trade for Doumit? I mean especially a AL team that will not play Milwaukee this year?
