    Default Marshall

Marshall University is gaining some respectability again. QB Anderson appears that he has arrived. I was there today!

Marshall has had qb problems..........at least that's who was blamed. Today Anderson looked like mature qb, even with the simple stuff. They beat (27-7) a UAB team that had some talent, but resembled Marshall of recent years. Darius Marshall, the 2nd rated running back in the nation, was held to 130 yards on 32 carries. I didn't think he had that many carries?! Marshall's left side of the offensive line left, due to injuries, and was replaced by very capable backups. They ran the ball to the left often.

Their 1st TD was a lucky, belated pass, to the back of the endzone, that happens when the luck and skill starts rolling. If the play happened with big ben, the pass would have been thrown to the middle receiver before he even turned around. After that play the qb shined with Kenny Stabler type passes to the sidelines and Darius Marshall dodged people the rest of the day for his yards. This was a whole team victory. The program showed renewed signs of life.

I heard that WVU wants to back out of the remaining games, in the future of their programs.

It was colder than the ambient temperature, due to wind and some misty type rain, but did not get unbearable. The crowd was embarrassingly sparse for a team that wants to add on to the stadium. The band, cheerleaders, flag girls, majorettes, etc. were all excellent.

I have a documentary, Remembering Marshall, that I am going to watch tomorrow. The Movie "We Are Marshall" brought tears to my eyes, I imagine this one will too.

When I was living in Clarksburg, we made our way down to Hunnington quite often for work... It's amazing just how much that team means to the town.

Spent a few years down there cutting my teeth flying folks out of the airport... I guess it was mid-90's or so.... Was there for a few years, and originally from just up the road into Pa in Waynesburg.

Nah.... When I was there, I was doing charter work... I didn't start actuall "commercial" stuff till I left.

... But man, I loved the hot dog place at the bottom of the hill in Bridgeport... Was it "T & L"?... Can't remember for sure... And almost single-handedly supported "Wings Ole" in Fairmont...
