WESTMINSTER, Md. -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is doing more than he was asked to do by the league when given a six-game suspension after being accused of sexual assault.

Goodell said he will meet with Roethlisberger before the regular season starts in September and determine whether to reduce the punishment to four games.

The Steelers quarterback has been having his best camp yet, according to Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.

During a visit to the Baltimore Ravens training camp, Goodell said: "He is doing what he's been asked to do -- and frankly more."

Goodell added that Roethlisberger "understands the seriousness of this and the fact he has to change the way he's doing things. I'm encouraged by that."

Goodell is scheduled to visit Steelers camp Thursday and plans to meet with Roethlisberger

I could personally care less if Goodell is pleased or not. If fans got a vote in choosing Commisioner he would be bagging goods at Wal Mart right now. Goodell is a complete incompetent who has done nothing but screw up one thing after another since taking over as Commish. He's failed in every which way handing out discipline and because of the half-assed, inconsistent decisions and ways he's done, he's become a joke and mockery for most. He's done practically nothing with the recent labor dispute except make it worse by doing nothing so that he can go around and make inconsistent and laughable disciplinary choices.

The only reason I care is that it looks good for Ben only missing four, instead of six games Other than that,Goodell is a joke of a commish.

Spot on. After this, he can get back to flossing with Robert Kraft's pubes.

There's still a part of me that can't get over the possible involvement of the Rooney's with Ben's suspension. Im not sure I believe all that Anp believes but i wouldn't be surprised if the Rooney's were so worried about making others have this squeaky clean perception of them and the Steelers that they got involved or were perhaps a major part in this suspension.

I still believe that a apart of the problem is that the interpretation of and punishments for infringement are all subject to Rog Almighty.

I think Ben got what he deserved. And it may save his career. He sure as hell didn't look like he was gonna grow up anytime soon at the presser he gave before the smackdown, with the Joe Dirt/pro wrestler haircut and whatever attitude. Remember? So some other people got off easy. Watch their lives down the road. Just hope that Ben FINALLY got his wake up call and will take things seriously from now on.
