Default Pirates claim RHP s Chan Ho Park and Chris Resop

    "Pirates claim Resop
WEDNESDAY, 04 AUGUST 2010 15:37 WRITTEN BY DEJAN KOVACEVIC
The Pirates have claimed right-handed reliever Chris Resop off waivers from the Atlanta Braves."

I hope this brings an end to Steven Jackson's tenure. Jackson is like a cockroach that won't die. Every time you think he has been DFA'd for the last time, he pops back up on the ML roster.

I wonder if he'll be better than Brendan Donnelly would have been...? He's a lot younger and cheaper anyway.

Even if it doesn't stick,it's still hard to be much worse.

Pretty much. Can't get worse than Jackson and Donnelly's results, so now it's just hoping to get lucky. Realstically (since the words luck and Pirates don't come close to being near each other) the BP will get resolved in the offseason. This season is shot and the tradeable BP pieces are gone. Pretty much all is falling in line in that area

    Update from Dejan:
"UPDATE 4:19 p.m.: Resop will join the Pirates tomorrow, which is when a corresponding move will be announced. Expect Steven Jackson -- who has struggled immensely -- to be the choice to be returned to Class AAA Indianapolis."

I hope they don't even return Jackson to Indy. Just release him and put him out of his (and our) misery.

    From Dejan:

EDNESDAY, 04 AUGUST 2010 17:25 WRITTEN BY DEJAN KOVACEVIC
The Pirates have claimed reliever Chan Ho Park off waivers from the New York Yankees.

    Park, a 37-year-old right-hander, had a 5.60 ERA in 29 appearances. Opponents were batting .280 off him.

The Pirates also designated for assignment reliever Steven Jackson to clear space on the 25-man and 40-man rosters for Park and newly acquired reliever Chris Resop. The other 40-man move was to shift first baseman Steve Pearce from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day.

Another 25-man move will be needed Friday, which is when Park is expected to join the team.

Ledezma, Gallagher, Park and Resop. Add them all together and you get Pirate Parrot droppings.

Neil's plan is to get that #1 pick!!! I LOVE it when a plan comes together!

Steve Rochna PARK is obviusly better than most of our pen for a next to nothing price. resop put up sick numbers in AAA last season if you want to wine about the pirates at least know what you are complaining about. park will be with the team till the season is over and hopfully be able to help the pitching staff as most of them are very young. and resop will be in AAA until at least next season.

A positive review of the Resop pickup...

"By Tim Dierkes [August 4, 2010 at 2:27pm CST]

Resop disappointed in his brief stint with the Braves. However, the 27-year-old posted a 2.09 ERA, 10.0 K/9, and 3.5 BB/9 with four home runs allowed in 82 Triple A innings this year (15 starts). This is a nice pickup for the Pirates, who were known to be trolling for pitching after trading away several key members of their bullpen."
