The defense held the vikes to 10 points.

Stuffed them on the goal line 5 plays in a row.

Scored two touchdowns, long mother ****ing touchdowns at that, off of turnovers.

There is something wrong with this defense???

Pressured, hurried, and sacked farve all day....

Held peterson to under 70 yds

Had we not forced 2 red zone turnovers then we would've given up either 16 or 24 or 20 points to the Vikings. the problem is that they were in those positions too much. Favre had 334 yards passing, the only thing that stopped the vikings in the 4th quarter were very fortunate turnovers. As much as it is nice to get big turnovers, I hate being a fluke team that relies desperately on turnovers. That was the Balitmore Ravens defense last year IMO. If they didn't get those key turnovers they lost games. That's turning into the Steelers this year with an exception of having a QB that can put points on the board in 2 minute drills.

Sack numbers are pretty. Holding Peterson under 100 is pretty but the facts are, Minnesota was in scoring position too much in this game. We didn't allow the good offenses we played last season to put together as many drives that got to the redzone as the Vikings did this game.

there's something wrong. It might have to do with Troy not being helathy. He's out there playing, I just don't see him making a difference. He's playing more of a pure safety role rather than that all over the place role that LeBeau loves to put him in

Troy makes the difference on D. No doubt. Just him being out there helps out a ton!

I'll add, Gay looks like **** out there. I mean all seaon long so far I have given him time to get acquainted with starting. he is not looking good. He's been getting burnt and He isn't physical either. I knew we should have kept McFad. Don't know if we could have but Gay isn't right.

and I'll add, start DeShea over Gay.....hmm that sounds kinda funny: "START DeShea over gay!" lol

It is....even if he can't do what he usually can do, he adds that mental lift to the team.......say any word on Timmons? It looked like he re-injured his ankle.

    That's part of defense.

Bottom line is that they didn't score anything other than 10 stinking lousey points on the defense.

If you take away the Steelers offense, and the viks ST, the defense wins this game on their own by out scoring the opposition.

You can't really get any better than that......

    Ditto...

At this point, I think my confidence in the position goes up if Fox gets to start next week because the high ankle sprain is re-aggrevated.

    He iced the game today...

Some may say it was lucky or fortunate, but everyone has heard the saying 'big time players make big time plays'....

In the limited opportunities Fox had, he had the game clinching play.

That is a big time play.

    Timmons.......

    Meh.

Well, the Steelers have two weeks to get healthy and get right. After Denver, the schedule is favorable and I hope we can start putting these teams away. It's time to start playing complete games.

I realize part of the chat involves which guys/units could or can play better. I will say this though, wins are the ONLY stat that matters in the NFL and this team is good at it. As long as we get a top 6 spot we have a chance. We can beat anyone anywhere. That said is is always nice to see consistency. I think our D will end up being the number 1 ranked by the end of the year.

Really sj? He's made some nice open field tackles, I think. He could use some work in coverage though. Yeah, Peterson bulled him over on that one reception, but that is one of the best backs in the league.

Let me add to this little quote by BJGold...lets see I count 2 pic 6's 2 TD's given up by the special teams -- that's 28 points averaging 7 a game over the last 4 games I think ..Bengals/Lions/Browns/Vikings. other than bengals game I'd say D is doing pretty well.

I thought he played pretty well. Several times he nailed a quick out and tacked the guy right away no gain. Vikes have some big WR's -- I thought DB's played pretty well.
