Default Call on Vikings for Tripping

everyone is whining about the flag on the vikings for tripping and how it changed the game? I didnt think you were allowed to just throw yourself at a players knees but the "experts" keep telling me it was textbook blocking. can anyone explain the rule?

I saw the same *******s on NBC *****ing about it. If you deliberately dive for a players knees/legs without making some sort of blocking contact first it should be called a trip.

They all said it was a 'textbook block'

The rules are unclear to be honest. The rule is "Tripping by a member of either team." is a 10 yard penalty.

HOWEVER, to be a trip by definition one should be sticking his/her leg out etc...this was simply a terrible call that changed the game.

HOWEVER, the media is also wrong because the pass interference penalty earlier in the game against the Steelers was also bunk...which essentially equals out.

His God **** leg went up to trip our D guy as soon as he went flat on his face. What about the ****ing challenge call on the catch call? You want talk about BULL****? HE was bobbling the ball when Troy knock him out of bounds. Now that's BULL****!

It was a really odd play. On my first look I didn't think his leg made contact, but once I saw the replay a few times it looks like the guy's entire top half of his body misses Harrison and only their legs make contact. Had any part of the top half of his body made contact I don't think there's any penalty called, but half his body completely missed on the cut attempt and only his leg made contact.

LOL...that wasn't anything close to a trip. It was closer to a chop block than a trip...however he wasn't engaged with another blocker.

oh yeah i almost forgot about that debacle. I kept saying the same thing when he got both his feet back down (which was a great effort on his part, wont take that away from him) but he sure didnt have complete control of the ball till his feet came back up and he hit the ground out of bounds.

Yes, if you watch the ball the ball is moving in his hands. Should have been a 4th down.

And that is why it was tripping, along with the fact that after the guy wiffed on the block, he tried to make up for it by tripping Harrison.

It was a trip. As far as I am concerned, the refs still owe us 278 calls in our favor for ignoring the holds against Deebo on every snap, plus other egregious calls that go against us every week. Watch the replay of Harvins return again. As Harvin is approaching Reed(tard), just to his right, there is a blatant hold being perpetrated by a Vikes blocker that should've been called. Just sayin'

People...I know we all have Steeler biases...but this thing isn't anything CLOSE to a trip. He hits him with his shoulder. Its a terrible call...it equaled out...but lets not just write it off b/c it WAS NOT a trip.

Look at around the 2 minute mark:
