Default The Fallout From Reggie Bush

In the effort of "impartial posting", here's the aftermath that my team, USC, is facing due to the Reggie Bush debacle...

Southern California incoming President Max Nikias (right) and new athletics director Pat Haden are trying to restore integrity to the tarnished Trojans program.

The effect NCAA penalties tied to Reggie Bush have had and could have on Southern Cal:

[HIGH-LIGHT]*[/HIGH-LIGHT] Fourteen wins from 2004 and 2005 vacated. School is likely to vacate its 2004 Bowl Championship Series title after the appeals process ends because USC is not challenging the wins from that season being taken away. Associated Press national title will stand.

[HIGH-LIGHT]*[/HIGH-LIGHT] The Football Writers Association of America is weighing whether to strip the school of the 2004 Grantland Rice Trophy, awarded each year to the FWAA national champion.

[HIGH-LIGHT]*[/HIGH-LIGHT] USC will not be eligible for a bowl this season but is appealing a bowl ban for the 2011 season. The school also is appealing the loss of 30 scholarships over the next three years.

[HIGH-LIGHT]*[/HIGH-LIGHT] Several statistical marks achieved by Bush now are accompanied by asterisks in the 2010 USC media guide declaring "participation later vacated due to NCAA penalty." Marks include: 2005 NCAA all-purpose yardage leader; 2004-05 Pac-10 all-purpose leader; 2004 Pac-10 punt return leader; 2003 Pac-10 kickoff return leader; No. 6 all-time school single-season rushing leader; school record for all-purpose yards in a game.

[HIGH-LIGHT]*[/HIGH-LIGHT] Bush's 2005 Heisman Trophy is in jeopardy. The Heisman Trust, which administers the award, has not made a decision on whether to strip Bush of the honor, but the school "is in the process of" returning its copy of the statue, according to spokesman Tim Tessalone.

[HIGH-LIGHT]*[/HIGH-LIGHT] Running backs coach Todd McNair, whose contract was up June 30, was not retained.

[HIGH-LIGHT]*[/HIGH-LIGHT] Athletics director Mike Garrett, under fire during the NCAA investigation which also included men's basketball, was replaced by Pat Haden.
