In his first game as player-manager Pete Rose goes 2 for 4 in the Reds 6-4 win over the Cubs. Rose starts at 1B and bats second in the order... He lines a single in his first at-bat. When the ball gets away from CF Bob Dernier he goes head first with a slide into third base.

1986
Pete Rose makes his final ML appearance, striking out as a pinch hitter against Goose Gossage. The Reds lose 9 - 5 to the visiting Padres. A bright spot is Barry Larkin hitting his first ML home run, off LaMarr Hoyt.
