Default Marcus Johnson, OL depth pickup??

6'6", 321 OL, five year vet; cut by Tampa after a DUI charge.

Is he worth adding to our lean backup stable?

(Oh, they cut Sean Mahan, too.)

I know nothing about the dude, but I do know this. The Steelers tend to be pretty strict with keeping trouble makers around but tend to sometimes overlook things if one of their studs screws up. If TB cut this dude cause of a DUI 'charge'...with how ****ty they are...I wouldn't think he could be all that good.

After getting a DUI, I strongly doubt it. I think the organization has taken enough heat already with Jeff Reed running around the city and making an *** out of himself. I don't think they want to take a gamble on another one.

Plus, the guy can't be all that great if he's getting cut by Tampa.

Two perspectives. I know nothing about the guy and was hoping someone was familiar with him (since he's been around for four plus years).

But, if he was cut because of the DUI charge, that's not a comment on his play--even if the team sucks.

And how can we afford to be holier than thou, given Reed's embarrassment?

IF the guy can play, maybe he can help out.

With the way the Bucs are playing do you really blame this guy for getting hammered.

    Good point.

Eitherway, I can just imagine the headlines...

"After going easy on Reed, Steelers sign DUI lineman"

That would go over real well.

I strongly doubt the only reason why the Buccaneers cut the guy was because of a DUI. They probably cut him for the same reasons Minnesota and Oakland cut him. Tampa needs all the help they can get. IMO, if he was worth keeping around the Bucs would have kept him around. DUI or not.
