This is the only of the 4 Dixon games i don't really like our chances with. after watching the Ravens/Jets game last night I came to the conclusion that we could've beaten that Ravens team with Dennis Dixon... but Tennessee we struggle against. We've struggled with Ben as QB, we've struggled as a healthy team etc.. Jeff Fischer just has the Steelers number. With Vince Young discoverying how to play QB in this league (take notes Dixon) and Chris Johnson combined with Fisher's defensive schemes, we're going to have one hell of a hard time on the road Sunday.

I'm with you. I think even at our best we will have a hard time with the Titans. A win here and we could very well be 4-0 at Ben's return and the league certainly doesn't want to see that.

I tend to agree with you- Kip.

Tenn is going to be tough. IMO, the only way we win, is to force the game into Young's hands- and make him make mistakes. Which of course, is exactly what Tenn will be doing to the Steelers.

Yeah I don't know what it is but Fisher has had our number for years even after divisions were realigned. Maybe the extra prep for the 4-3 defense that was put in during camp and pre-season helps but Fisher seems to know what to do and when against the Steelers.

Not only that but we always find ways to kill ourselves against the Titans. gonna be a very tough battle indeed. Both defenses will be shutting down the run and forcing the other to beat them in the air and Young has been looking like a competent QB and we're running out a 3rd stringer...

I don't know what Fisher's record is against the Steelers but it seems like the Titans always give the Steelers a hard time, last year notwithstanding. I believe the Steelers have only won once in Tennessee. Obviously it'll be a tough game to win.

I counted us as being 5-11 against Tennessee since they relocated from Houston for the 1997 season.

We've only won once in like 8 or 9 tries IN Tennessee

With Vince Young discoverying how to play QB in this league (take notes Dixon) and Chris Johnson
I don't think for a second that Vince Young found out how to be a NFL QB. What Vince Young found was how to hand the ball off to Chris Johnson! I think that Vince Young is a microcosm of what the NFL may become. What is going to kill the "NFL QB" position as we now know it is the exorbitant salaries being paid to college coaches. Mack Brown - Texas - $5.1 million, Bob Stoops - OKL - $4.3 million, Urban Meyer - FLA - $4 million and the salary that just begs for some laughter is Lane Kiffen - USC - $4 million. The point I'm making is that there is so much pressure on the college coaches to win because of the money being paid out that the college game has morphed into the "rise of the mobile QB." Since at least 9 of each major college's games are against some real patsies, a kid that can run can score some points (see Denard Robinson of Michigan). Even my beloved Penn State has been taken in on this brand of play (Michael Robinson). The problem for the NFL is that the game as it is today is not "friendly" to these mobile QB's. The NFL still requires the QB to be a QB first, athlete second. The Dennis Dixon draft is still causing me sleepless nights. I would think if you have a long term established QB like Big Ben (excused for 4 games to find his "class"), I would think that you would draft as close of a clone to him as possible. I know, everyone thinks a change of pace at QB sometimes can rattle a defense. Problem is, wide outs don't like the change because they have to also change their game...holding routes longer, blocking more. There is no history so far in the NFL that these mobile QB's can compete as athletes first and QB second. That's why Vince Young is doing nothing than game management. But as running backs NOW go in the NFL, Chris Johnson might have another good year and then he'll slow down. It's going to be real interesting to see the NFL in a few years.

One a different note: I can honestly say I couldn't recognize these names of major college programs but their salaries just startled me:

    Mark Richt - $3.1 million/yr
    Jeff Tedford - $2.8 million/yr
    Gary Pinkel - $2.5 million/yr
    Gene Chizik - $2.0 million/yr
