Default Congratulations to Altoona for Winning the Eastern League Finals

The Curve open the championship series at home tonight.

Rumor I heard is that Andy Pettite will be making a rehab start against them tonight.

Pettite's scheduled for 5 innings or 80 pitches tonight. He pitched 4 shutout innings in the first round for them too. There should be a couple other interesting pitching matchups this series too. Dellin Betances and Manuel Banuelos for the Thunder have had really big seasons this year and very good starts in the first round.

How do the offenses stack up against each other? I could probably look at stats but you probably know those and more.

They're pretty similar teams. They ranked back to back in ERA and in Runs scored on offense, with the Curve ahead in the pitching and the Thunder ahead in the hitting. A lot of the better hitters have moved on already, though (Brandon Laird, Alex Presley, etc). The biggest offensive weapon in the game might be Hector Gimenez for the Curve. The big name prospect for the Thunder coming into the season was Austin Romine, but he's been somewhat disappointing offensively. David Adams, the 2B who was supposed to be in the Cliff Lee trade is injured. The Thunder might have a slight edge on offense, but it shouldn't be that big. Neither team is really loaded with sluggers.

We lost the opener 3-2 in the 10th as Morris gave up the winner.

    Owens was pitch-for-pitch with Pettitte.

The Curve blew a few opportunities against Pettite too. At one point they had the bases loaded and no outs. Ended up grounding into a 1-2-3 double play to let him out of it. After he was out they had first and second no outs and had Lambo bunt.

Sounds fairly evenly matched then. Judging by the results of the first game and what you were saying, this series could be a matter of doing the little things right and capitlizing on what chances you have. I know that's a normality but sometimes a team coulod have stronger pitching or hitting over an opponent to fall back on and thats not the case here

I saw that. Im excited for them. It'd be really nice to see them take the series lead next!

The Curve discovered some power in their bats for the playoffs. d'Arnaud has 3 playoff HRs after hitting 6 all year. Josh Harrison has 3 playoff HRs after hitting 4 all year. Jordy Mercer has 3 playoff HRs after hitting 3 all year.

Another good pitching matchup tonight as Justin Wilson goes up against Adam Warren.

I noticed that. I was checking out the box scores this morning and saw Harrison had hit his 3rd and knew he had only hit a few this year.

Behind outstanding starts from Locke and Justin Wilson the Curve win games 2 & 3 to take a 2-1 series lead. They need 1 more win to clinch the 1st Eastern League championship in Altoona history.

Most of this team won the A championship last season.

Big HR from Lambo last night. They keep hitting bombs down there.

Tonight Tony Watson starts with a chance to clinch it. Going up against Manny Banuelos.

Has anybody seen this Lambo kid play? Why would the Dodgers give up on this kid after he was one of their better prospects recently? Was the dope smoking that bad?

Things are going well for the Curve early. Tony Watson has 9 strikeouts through 5 and the Curve lead 4-1. Banuelos knocked out in the 5th, though the bigger prospect names haven't done much on offense.
