    Default If there's a lockout

There's a lot of knowledgeable folks here, but does anyone know what happens in regards to the draft next year if there is a lockout?

What happens to college seniors and underclassmen that hire an agent if there is no draft?

Good question and tough to really find anything definitive about this topic without searching a little more. Best I could find is that there would still be a Draft despite a lockout. There's also the UFL that will be treated more as a developmental grounds.

For one it would be up to all under classmen because they have to declare far before the lockout deadline of March 1 and once you declare eligibility, you can't go back to college, so you could see more under grads staying in. I think I've heard as well one of the windbags n ESPN mention that $$$$$ would be far lower if a lockout occurred..

That's as much as I know and I'm not even positive about the accuracies of it outside of hearing someone on ESPN say there would be a draft despite the lockout and money would be effected/lower.

Pretty sure I read even if there is a lockout there will still be a draft.

That will be a tough call for an underclassmen. I think if I were in that position I would stay in school.

Yea... It'd be awfully tough to forego a senior season without alot more facts, as well as a fair amount of confidence as to what would happen with the lockout/new deal.

Stay inschool and take out an insurance policey.

But there will be no lock-out. The players have a gravy train and the owners have the most popular sport in the nation. Both sides know they have to meet common ground and they will.

Hope so, but wouldn't bet on it. Greedy ****ers have a way of becoming myopic when there's a dollar involved.

I Hope to God your right!!! I don't watch baseball, don't watch basketball, watch hockey (mostly important games and playoffs only). I watch college football, but I don't really have a favorite team and will just watch to watch.

It will crush me if I don't get my dose of Steeler football next year!!!!

If there is a lock out, will we be watching replacement players next season ? And if there are replacement players, where do they get these guys from ?

Nope. It's the owners locking out the players not the players going on strike. Won't be seeing any scabs.

Talks probably won't start to get serious until it gets closer to that March deadline and who knows what happens there. as of right now there's been very little budging by either side and that's only part of the issue too. 1 part is the owners wanting more of a percentage of overall revenues and the other is small market teams want the cap fixed because the floor is too high for them so they want some more revenue sharing money. so there's the battle between large and small markets as well.

You pretty much have it all

It would be a shame to have to waste a couple of extra semesters learning something!

Or making an agent wait an extra year to get a return on his investment.

This doesn't mean much to the title thread but I want to get this out here. These players talk about being in the union and I don't see it like that at all. If they were in the union the centers would make their scale, the qb's their scale and so on for each position. The ony thing I see their union doing good for is causing headaches. Goodell is the judge and jury and I don't believe the union can cause him to back down from any of his laws.
