Default Should there have been a penalty for de-cleating VY when he was running?

Clayton says Harrison should be fined and the USA Today was wondering why there was not a "roughing the passer" penalty. From what i can remember(way too much beer )VY was running with the ball trying to make positive yardage. That entitles him to be tackled like a running back. Can anyone with a recording comment. I was suprised he got up so quickly.

Clayton probably had either $500 on the Titans or daddy issues.

I don't remember a decleating play but the play I am hearing people ***** about is when three Steelers did a turkey-jones on VY. And to me, it just looked like a coincidental thing.

If you are looking for a reason to penalize Harrison, don't look in the rulebook, because you won't find one. People have gotten so sensitized to QBs getting hit that they now assume that anytime a QB takes a vicious hit, then there must be a penalty.

In this case, VY was still up and struggling, Harrison grabbed his feet (as he should've) and was half-way into collectively tossing VY to the ground when the whistle blew. Too bad for VY that the ref was late with the whistle.
If you're wanting to assign blame for VY getting roughed up, blame the ref.

    Les, you crack me up.

What I want to know is was this shown in any highlights on ESPN or NFL Network? I know 10 years ago it would've been, hell, probably 5 years ago, but since Goodell has been pussifying the NFL, I bet it wasn't shown.

1st it was momentom that caused him to get piled drived...one low...two high....right before the whistle...happened too fast......before the ref could whistle in the grasp.

2nd he was **** lucky he didn't have to leave the field on a cart and will be able to play next week.

I'd also like to add one other thing - it's a sad commentary on the state of things now in the NFL that whenever there's a "violent" play involving the QB or really any ballcarrier everyone expects fines, flags, suspensions to follow. The media seems to chime in immediately on it. Clayton wrote about it yesterday and the announcer when Young was sacked immediately said "Is that allowed?" That's not football.

Agreed... But as is "football" in the 21st century... Jack Lambert has to be smiling and cringing at the same time...

Jack Lambert used to say that they were putting skirts on the quarterbacks. Now he's probably saying that they have the quarterbacks in full drag out there!
