    Default Asros new manager...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4599262

Nothing really "riveting" about another guy getting hired. But, two things I noticed as I was reading it, that we Bucco fans complain(ed) about.

First, the guy hired has ZERO managing experience. Not even in the minor leagues.

Second, when the guy was a bench coach in Boston, Francona said he did a lot as a bench coach... INCLUDING most of the communication with the players. JR was crucified for not talking to the players so much.

GRANTED - Boston does win... so I am taking that into account.

But it is still ironic two teams each did something we will complain about

    The article says:

The 52-year-old Mills was hired by Houston on Tuesday after six seasons as Terry Francona's bench coach in Boston. He'll manage in the majors for the first time, though he's managed a total of 11 seasons in the minors, with affiliates for the Chicago Cubs (1987-92), Colorado Rockies (1993-96) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2002).

I think it's a solid hire for the Astros. Bring in a guy whose been a bench coach for a successful team and has a lot of minors managing experience and give him a shot. That's how new coaches are born. After a while, rehashing the same old deadbeats gets you the same results. Some guys are mainstays, some guys the game and passion for the game have passed by them. I like to see teams taking on new coaching blood, personally. It's teams like the Reds or whoever that keep hiring washed up, never have been, piles of crap like Dusty Baker that make me laugh

Joe Maddon had, what, 6 years of minor league manager experience and some interim management experience before taking over the Rays and leading them to the WS?

I, unlike many, do not know if JR is the man to get us over the hump...but I guess we'll find out huh? LOL.
