Default Is DL bi-polar? Or is Tomlin dabbling?

What the **** was that yesterday?

No blitzing of a QB who has shown weakness with blitzes?

The LB's and corners were releasing WR's at 6-7 yards and 7-15 yards was open all day! It killed us!

On the winning TD we had 7 men covering their 3 and we're playing a pure zone that left huge holes!

    WHAT THE ****!

we got burned by blitzing on the TD play...both Tryo and Clark were up on the line and got picked off by the TE in motion...thus not getting any pressure and gave time for the play to develop...not counting that BMac got shaked and baked.

What game were you watching? They blitzed all day and Baltimore did a very good job of stopping that.I was waiting for a thread to call out Tomlin for something and here we go.

I thought the D looked drained. They played hard for the first 3 games of the year with mostly only short breaks courtesy of the O. Trying to hit and maintain mid-season levels early in the year to compensate for an O that struggles can't be easy.

I'll wait and see what happens for the next 4 games before I hit the worry button.

You should stop sitting around waiting for stuff that depresses you and pay closer attention to the play on the field

Calm down....we all know about your man love for Tomlin. I did watch the game and I didn't see half the blitzes I had seen in previous weeks. The only reason I mentioned Tomlin dabbling is because I had never seen DL's D executing ****-poor game plans until Tomlin came along.

Hmm. I seem to remember that Mike Tomlin was the coach on the Super Bowl team of 2008. That team was #1 in scoring defense, #1 in passing defense, #2 in rushing defense and #2 in sacks. And what exactly was it that Tomlin did to Dick Lebeau's defense that year?

Now, as to what happened in Sunday's game. Read this from today's Post Gazette:

We feel like we should have won," said inside linebacker James Farrior. "We definitely had the opportunity. They made one more play than we did."

And a big one it was, not just because Ravens receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh easily beat cornerback Bryant McFadden with an out-and-up move to catch the winning 18-yard touchdown. But also because the Ravens anticipated a blitz call by defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau and kept in additional players to pick up the extra rushers.

The max-protect worked to perfection, with running back Ray Rice picking up inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons and tight end Todd Heap coming across from the right side to pick up Polamalu. Both players were blitzing off the right side, outside the rush of linebacker James Harrison.
"It's a call that's worked for us before," Polamalu said.

This time, though, it didn't, and the defense is accepting the blame.

Seems like that was a call that came from LeBeau.

They were keeping in 6, 7, even 8 guys all day. More blitzing wasn't the answer.
