    Default Before I die

And I hope I do not die for another 50+ years...HOWEVER, before I die I would really like to see the following happen with the Pirates:

    1. Have a winning season
    2. Gain respectability
    3. Win (with me in attendance) the World Series
    4. Last and actually to me the thing I want to see the most:

Yes, thats a picture of Roy Halladay and NO he will never be a Pirates. But before I die I would like to see a Pirate pitcher with as much ability, moxy, and desire to win as Roy Halladay. My hat is off to the man for capping what in my mind is the greatest accomplishment of his career--a playoff no-hitter on the biggest stage of his life...a stage he has waited for his entire career.

If the Pirates can somehow happen onto a player like him...1, 2, and 3 out of the above list certainly should follow.

Class act, a player's player, a consummate professional. Congrats Roy Halladay and someday I hope to see a pitcher like yourself here in Pittsburgh!

You know.... I could do without #4. I mean it would be great if it happened but I don't need it. By need I mean a guy pitching no-hitters in the playoffs, but I guarantee that there's a lot of pitchers out there with Halladay's moxy and desire to win, they just lack his talent

I'm not greedy, I'm content not having the best players in the league on my roster even though as a Pittsburgh fan I've seen it often and should be somewhat used to it (Mario, Jagr, Sid, Malkin, Bonds, Bonilla, Freddy Sanchez, Drabek) and that's just modern era. I just want to see #1-3 which can be accomplished without a dominant player like Roy Halladay but ****, would it make it so much easier :d

Hopefully one of those young guys turn out to be one of these types, Benny

As a former pitcher I have so much respect for Mr. Halladay...I mean the way he prepares...the type of person he is...and the massive amount of talent. Halladay WILL go down as one of the best pitchers ever. Seriously.

I would really love seeing that in Pittsburgh some day.

Halladay was truly outstanding, once he got ahead in the count on a hitter,it was all over.

I would too. I'd love to see another Clemente but I don't have to have either. I can't be greedy, I've been hoping for just a winner Karma might kick my ***

You know its funny for a team with as much history of the Pirates we have never had a real shutdown type pitcher. I mean heck our franchise two best pitchers are probably Bob Friend and John Candelaria and maybe Doug Drabek.

I will add Bob Veale, Vernon Law and Steve Blass too. But I agree we never had an elite high-end pitcher who is considered a pre-season Cy Young candidate.

Ya beat me to it. They were upper echelon pitchers in their prime.
