    Default NFL Refs suck!

Watching the Broncos-Jets game and they just called unnecessary roughness on Jets safety Jim Leonard. HORRIBLE CALL. Clean hit, not helmet to helmet, even Greg Gumbel said "how is that unnecessary roughness?" NFL is being ruined with these kinds of bull**** calls. They should make it where you can at least challenge these calls.

    It's Goodell's business plan.

What really irks me is players are CLEARLY playing and tackling differently just to avoid being called for unnecessary roughness under the new rules AND they are STILL being called for it! Leonard for the Jets and Harrison today in the Browns game both obviously went out of their way not to make helmet to helmet contact.

The refs should have a 3 strikes rule on them. 3 bad games and they get suspended.

    This hit?

If you scroll down toward the 80% area, you get a better slo-mo of the hit.

No, the hit by Harrison on the Browns WR running the shallow crossing pattern later in the game. There was a flag on the play and the announcers went on and on about how the flag was going to be on Harrison. There was no helmet to helmet contact and the flag was on someone else. It was just a hard hit, which I guess is enough to warrant a flag by some announcers and even refs now.

That hit on Cribbs was legal because he's a ball carrier, I believe. In any case, there's really no other way Harrison can make contact on Cribbs in that situation. There is going to be helmet to helmet contact on a ball-carrier on virtually every down.

    Is that the rule?

I was wondering, Mendy got speared in the chin on a running play.

Pretty sure it is. Otherwise there would be UR penalties on almost every play involving a ball carrier.

A pretty bad pass interference call cost the Chiefs the game vs Texans today!

That's another thing that is horrible about these calls, they are playing a HUGE part in the outcomes of close games. It's inexcusable. In the Broncs-Jets game, the Jets were down with a 4th and 6, Dirty Sanchez throws it deep, PI on the Broncos right near the GL. That's the ballgame.

To be fair, the CB made brief, incidental contact with Holmes facemask and was probably the right call. Still, it's a little ridiculous that after two teams battle it out for 60 minutes in a close game it comes down to a ref throwing a flag.
