Brian Billick says James Harrison should shut up and play
    The National Football Post

Former Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick says it's time for Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison to move on after being fined $75,000 by the NFL for an illegal hit and threatening retirement.

In a FOX Sports radio interview, Billick, who briefly coached Harrison with the Ravens, said Harrison needs to adapt rather than gripe about the NFL stepping up its enforcement of the existing rules.

"Absolutely, just shut up and play," Billick said. "It's like, we're going to work the whole week around your rules because you think you have to play that way? That's irritating, this is just a temper tantrum.

"But the rule is in for the safety of all the players, the hitter as well as the hittee, and it's just like the sack on the quarterback. We've adapted."

What the hell is Billick talking about? "We've adapted"? How? Last week two players were substantially fined for legal hits. **** off, ******, just more nonsense from the NFL or someone associated with the NFL in regards to this topic.

The official video the NFL sent out this week is full of contradictory nonsense. The Harrison tackle which was deemed "illegal" wasn't any different than the Ray Lewis tackle, which was deemed "legal", other than the offensive player in the Harrison tackle lowered his body at the last second. Totally ridiculous. It's no wonder the players are confused and annoyed by this, they have no idea what is actually a legal hit because the NFL clearly doesn't know either!

Here's my position, I've posted this on other Steeler forums.

I agree with Billick to an extent. The bigger issue IMO is that this **** shouldn't be in the press.

Look - I don't blame Harrison for his mini meltdown, I really don't. I respect him professionally for feeling that his life's work is now being attacked but this **** belongs in the locker room - not in the press, not on message forums.

Anyone who says they haven't had a similar meltdown in their professional career is either lying or doesn't do anything important or doesn't take what they do seriously. It's going to happen at some point but it's between that person and the organization that they work for and it's nobody's business.

That's my take, for what it's worth.

the only thing I've ever liked about Brian Billick is that Coors Light commercial he did with Mike Ditka:

I think Harrison's biggest issue when Monday morning rolled around was his reputation...be called a dirty player....that hurts if you really feel you go out and play hard but not dirty.
