Default why troy blitzing has hurt us.

Each time this year at a crucial time in the game Troy has blitzed the A gap and its hurt the steelers. (at least times I can remember). He did it against the ravens and TJ gets a TD. Then again against phins and #15 gets a TD too. Troy is a good safety tackler and has the speed and quickness to cover over a missed tackle in this case Gay in the 2nd play mentioned. I think we need to limit TP blitzing especially when other team is on our side of the field. as I mentioned before #15 dolphins Bess has great quickness and was hard to cover.

However he did jump over the pile and tackle was it Vince Young against titans (can't remember) so that is one instance when his timing worked. I think he was offsides once in the miami game as well once -- maybe its later in the 2nd half haven't gotten that far yet tonight while watching -).

I agree with you wholeheartedly, the Steelers have enough playmakers on defense that I would rather see Troy in coverage late when protecting a lead. If he does blitz, I would prefer a different gap than the 'A' gap, if he gets stoned in there he becomes useless.

Pap you always have good points -- I forgot both times I mention were later in the game and when we had leads as well. thanks for pointing that out.

I don't know what is going on but he has been the invisible man out there lately. Not good.

TP normally covers the TE down the middle on routes dolphins I don't think ran too many routes with a TE and the browns I dont think did either so that may explain that, but he did make a very crucial End zone INT against titans. If you rewatch the phins game he has on 3 different running plays blown up the blocking assignments and taken on the pulling G and basically allowed the pursuit to stop the RB -- TP has incredible play recognition probably his greatest strength.

I agree to disagree, I like a "healthy" Troy playing in the box... That said, I have never seen him blitz the "A" gap (that being the gap on either side of the NT, depending on the strong side of the offense???) On the Housh catch, he was clearly blitzing around the LT which in this situation is no where near the "A" gap:

I've read somewhere that he has the "greenlight" to make adjustments on the fly...

This would be as close to an "A" gap blitz (based on the strong side offense and Troys gap) that Ive seen...and it worked well:

Dont get me wrong, Im just wearing my coaching hat....!!!! I agree, Troy needs to be in coverage in game-closing situations!!!

Kind of a weird formation, and could be argued "B" gap too! But who knows with Lebeau??? He's a ****ing genius!

Not trying to discount your point though, we need Troy covering in clutch situations!!!

Man, looking at that Housh play (like 20 more times), I think Eason dropped into zone to cover 3yds worth of air...so maybe Troy was closer to the "A" than I thought LOL!!!
