Default BP On the Pirates Top 20 for 2010

    Goldstein sounds optimistic

Also, here's an interview on Moskos. He is nowhere to be found on Goldstein's list, tho.

Great reads. Thanks. I'm getting psyched already.

    Really?

    Five-Star Prospects
    1. James Taillon, RHP
    2. Stetson Allie, RHP
    Four-Star Prospects
    3. Luis Heredia, RHP
    4. Tony Sanchez, C
    Three-Star Prospects
    5. Rudy Owens, LHP
    6. Bryan Morris, RHP
    7. Starling Marte, OF
    8. Jeff Locke, LHP
    9. Diego Moreno, RHP
    Two-Star Prospects
    10. Colton Cain, LHP
    11. Zack Von Rosenberg, RHP

Luis Heredia is our 3rd best prospect according to Goldstein? Lambo is ranked 17th??

Not sure I agree with this list and it's order. On a positive note, this might be the first time I can remember where there was even enough talent in the system to question rankings and such. So, ultimately that is a good thing

Lots of pitchers and not enough position players, but what the hell, if they are decent I'll take them no matter where they play.

Besides the top two, are any of the other pitchers "fireballers?"

Kingham, and Cain throw it pretty well for starters. Moreno can really bring it as a reliever.

Diego Moreno, but he's strictly a reliever. It's a little too early to say what Heredia will be. He's throwing in the low 90s at 16, so you can dream about any kind of velocity, but sometimes those kids just get stuck there, or even lose a couple MPH over time. Owens is about average to slightly above average for a lefty. Morris has above average velocity, but not high 90s stuff. Locke's velocity is pretty much average. Von Rosenberg has been inconsistent, but a lot of reports had him in the high 80s for State College. There's room to grow, but probably not to a really high level. Colton Cain is also a bit inconsistent, but you'll see him get it up around 94 from the left side on occasion. I think the standard for "fireballs" is a little lighter for lefties, so there's a chance he does fall into that category.

And no mention of Justin Wilson. I swear this guy is underrated by just about everyone. He's got great velocity for a lefty...he's got good secondary pitches...and a pitcher/winners mentality. If he solves some of the walks...he's going to be very good...and he what, just turned 23 in August?
