    Default Steeler negativity counterpoint thread...

    COUNTERPOINT!

At least one of the calls in the fourth quarter was reedonkulous.
I'm talking about the roughing the passing on Hampton.
The PI on Taylor was legit in my view.

So the Bengals certainly got some help in the last quarter.

Plus, you can never understimate the potential for a team playing at home in prime time.
The Steelers have just played two straight teams in that stituation.
They lost to the good team and beat the bad team.

I'll try to find some stats later but I think that home favorites almost always cover spreads in primetime. (I know this is especially true for college games on Thursday night, but again I'll try to get some stats in here when I have time.) So you can infer from that what home dogs usually do.

Bottom line is the Steelers are 6-2.

They were 6-2 two seasons ago and won the Super Bowl.
They were 6-2 last year and missed the playoffs.

My point is we don't know what's happening. Is this year's team good or not?
I have a feeling we'll find out next Sunday.

Good counter point Laroche, and I am a positive fan.

But I can't get over the feeling of dejavu

and Steeler Shades pointed out a great stat..
Of the 124 points the Steelers have allowed this year, and 63 have come in the fourth quarter.

I think this team can be a 12-4 team, but parts of me feel it can be a 9-7 team. Here's rooting for 12-4!

Well, they went 3-1 without Ben,and they went 2-1 playing 3 road games in a row, losing the one they most could aford to lose,a non-conference game against the defending Super Bowl Champs. So at 6-2 at the half way point,I feel pretty good about this team.

    Both calls were bogus...

I saw nothing "legit" on th PI call. Ike was in perfect position (although trailing) on the play and made little to no contact...incedental at best. What really bugs me about that call is that it was not called by the official that was right on top of the play, but rather the official that was no where near the action...Not to mention, it came in very late...after TO threw a tantrum.

I can't even comment on the roughing call on Casey it was so bad... HORRIBLE!!!

That "penalty" on Hampton literally makes me want to quit watching whatever game this now has become....you know the one that used to be called FOOTBALL.........Should be utterly embarassing to the NFL, but its not, it is gonna be called a "correct and appropriate" call........
Might as well play flag football as far as hitting a QB is concerned...and I wish to God I wasn't so addicted to Steelers Football as I knew it, I woulda shut the game off and went to bed....I PRAY TO GOD that this is just some temporary phase of overregulating the game and we can return to the great game that used to be the NFL for about 45 ****ing years now......

    Yea... Both calls were crappy...

... I still say that Ben could'a been fined on that pass by ARE... When he was blocking, he pretty much went for the knees... But I guess that doesn't apply in that situation... Hell, I also wouldn't be suprised to see Troy get a fine, because that one hit was dangerously close to helmet-to-helmet... I dunno.

Yea... The Bengals got alot of help in the 4th qtr... If Whitworth hadn't put Chaddy-poo in his place, they might have self-destructed again on the field as they did 2 years ago during their last home Monday night game...

Yea... The negativity is getting a little tough to swallow at times... As we were discussing over the weekend, there is also a different "breed" of young fans emerging nowadays, and we got alot of them... On this board and live at the games... I was embarassed at times last night with some of the **** I saw, and as I said then, may have attended my last Steeler game in person.

Negativity goes nowhere... I know it's the lifeblood of a board, but it's a ****ty way to go thru life rooting for your team... Of course, next Sunday night could cause quite a few of us to implode... LoL!
