    Default Reeds days numbered?

Glad to see Tomlin is doing something about Reed. When you can't score touchdowns it's important you find a decent kicker . Now if only he would do something about Arians and Horton . I guess it's easier to blame the kicker then your horrible staff.

Jeff Reedís bad game in Pittsburgh Sunday night could be his last.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Pittsburgh is contemplating cutting Reed, the kicker whom the Steelers used the franchise tag to retain during the offseason.

The Steelers will bring in kickers for workouts on Tuesday, and if one of them is impressive enough, Reed will be out of work.

On Sunday Reed missed a 26-yard field goal against the Patriots and complained afterward about the fans, the media and the turf at Heinz Field.

Oh, no doubt Reed has to go but why stop there? After last night there better be a whole lot more changes and not just the kicker. Tomlin needs to man up and really make a bold move to show he is more ****ed about last night then us fans.

I was wondering why the Steelers didn't take a look at the kicker the Patriots picked up, I didn't know he was out of work. From my understanding the guy was very good and had one bad season last year. They should have been trying him out the moment Reed started crying, started bashing the Rooneys, started missing fieldgoals, started getting in trouble with the law, started having whimpy kickoffs.

I doubt now Tomlin will find any kicker that is any better than Reed. Good luck with that one Tomlin. Tomlin could also put the heat on Lebeau, Arians and Horton.

I can't think of any so this is going to be interesting. My money says Reed-tard is still here come Sunday.

Can he get us a touchback so every team isn't starting at the 35. That would be a step in the right direction.

I actually agree a little bit. He is a bit of a scape goat even though he deserves it. NKY is going to say that there is nothing better out there and I think that is true but enough is enough. Don't let the door hit you in the ***. They won't dump ARE or get rid of Arians but it's something.

True. If Reed gets cut I would hate to be a towel dispenser near the Burgh.

    Here's the article

The Pittsburgh Steelers are contemplating cutting kicker Jeff Reed, who missed his seventh field goal of the season in Pittsburgh's 39-26 loss to New England on Sunday night, and will bring in kickers for workouts on Tuesday, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

    Reeding The Tea Leaves
The Pittsburgh Steelers have missed the playoffs in four seasons since Jeff Reed entered the NFL in 2002.

    Year FG% Final W-L
    2010 68.2 ???
    2009 87.1 9-7
    2006 74.1 8-8
    2003 71.9 6-10
    * - Reed has career FG percentage of 81.9

After the loss, Reed called into question the quality of the turf at Heinz Field.

"I'm not one to make excuses," Reed told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'll take the credit for the miss. It was a great snap, a great hold, great protection. It's kind of hard when you plant your foot and the hole -- a piece of ground moves where the ball's under the holder. I almost missed the ball completely.

"I'm not going to make excuses. If you've played any kind of sports in your life, you realize that what we play on is not very good turf. It happens."

Reed's miss came at the end of a seven play, 59-yard drive with the Steelers trailing 17-3. Reed has not missed seven field goals in a season since 2006, when he finished 20 of 27.

Fans greeted Reed with a mock cheer after the North Carolina alum made an extra point in the fourth quarter.

Reed said he didn't hear the cheer, but called out Pittsburgh fans.

"It doesn't surprise me," Reed told the Post-Gazette. "If you're not perfect in this city, man, then you're going to hear about it. It's been like that for nine years, and why would they stop now?"

Reed is 15 of 22 on field goals this season and his kicking percentage of 68.2 is the lowest of his career, lower than the 71.9 percent in 2003 in his second year in the NFL. Reed missed nine field goals that year and the Steelers finished 6-10.

Word is that if any of the guys that they bring in can kick the ball more than a foot off the ground, the job is theirs...
