    Default Constructive Thoughts

Here we are tied atop the AFC North, after a brutal loss to an arch rival (who has had our number long before the days of the current coaching staff). I've seen some good things out of this team, and I've seen some shortcomings. I too, question some aspects of this team, this includes both lack of execution on the field...as well as, poor play calling and (most recently) a lack of adjustments.

I've been a member of this forum since its inception, and to date, the posts are getting more and more negative...especially with regard to the game-planning and coaching. I understand that this forum is not a place where "fanboys" come to hype up the Steelers, regardless of the product on the field, but also a venue to vent and banter, to "discuss" what is right and wrong with the team.

With all of the criticism of the coaching staff, I would like to "discuss" certain aspects of this subject. Namely, WHAT can be done to correct it? Now before the posts come raining in about "firing Tomlin," offer a little more insight! I know there are certain biases out there with regard to MT, Arians, Lebeau,... and the new whipping boy Horton. But rather than constantly *****ing, calling for heads, and trying to have your "I told you so moment," can we try to have an intelligent football-based conversation about what YOU, "the mouse-clicking coach" might do better...given our current roster.

As somebody who has been involved in the sport, both as a player and coach (albeit at low-amateur level) for most of my life, I issue a challenge to the members of this forum to DISCUSS the issues, and banter about possible solutions intelligently...rather than regurgitating the same ideas in every post, in every thread and just ****ing people off!

I dont want to hear about "running to the same hole on every play..." The fact of the matter is, that did not happen, and is hyperbole at best! Granted, the running plays Sunday night were heavily weighted toward the right side of the line, but the blocking schemes were different and certainly not ran the "same" way. Would a better strategy be to run "left" behind a side of the line that was pieced together last week?

Same could be said for ARE "fair-catching" every ball... would you rather he fields a punt with a defender in position to take his head off? Granted, I would like to see Sanders back there fielding them, but if the return unit (as a whole) doesnt set their blocks, there is nothing wrong with a fair catch.

Just curious to see some X's and O's rather than just "blanket" statements

Les, I wouldn't exactly call it "positive"... more or less just a call for some football conversation rather than a witch hunt!

You ain't just whistlin' "Dixie" there, Les!

It's unfortunate that the sense of entitlement some posters have precludes rational discussion...

I want to see more plays that have Ben doing a clean three step drop and release the ball quickly to a receiver who at the catch has a 4 - 7 yard gain. Build some rythm with this and Mendy running the ball mixed. Enough with the sideways pass for no gain without breaking a tackle.

It would be nice, but Brucey has gone on record as saying that he hates the 3 step drop.
