Default Watching the Vikings game again

    My observations:

Troy saved the game for us. On a run outside by Peterson, he would have gone the distance if not for crazy pursuit by Troy and a tackle from across the field. That would have made it 17-13 Vikings. Because he made the tackle, Woodley was able to make his big play for the TD a few downs later. Tyrone Carter would not even be in the picture on that play. Plus Troy made a tremendous effort in the goal line stand. TP is simply the best defensive player in the world !

On the Harvin KO return, yes Reed looked bad but Wallace totally over ran the outside pursuit allowing Harvin to break it, Reed missed the tackle but I don't know what Johnson was doing in the middle of the field. He got completely turned around. Would any NFL kicker make that tackle? Reed should be criticized more for his poor kick than his poor tackle.

Ben had little opportunity to make plays but he made the ones he had to make. Of course he was lucky a couple passes weren't picked.

The D contained Favre pretty well , preventing the big plays.

Fat boy Siragusa hates the Steelers !
    That is all !

Solid observation and one that can only generally be made watching the game a 2nd time to analyze. Watching it the first time through, it seems as if Troy hadn't been doing much, or in general had been playing a fairly standard safety assignments. that may be the case but Troy has the talent and athletic ability to still make the plays that others can't even from a standard safety set.

This week off should help in his healing process. I can't wait to see him back, lined up in all of these strange spots as part of LeBeau's confuse the hell out of the opponent packages. I think that's been something sorely missing out of the defense since Troy got injured

I watched it twice as well (I love DVR). I think we could have gone to Heath a lot more over the middle as it was wide open over the middle since their safeties were pretty much lined up 10 yards deeper and 10 yards off the inside shoulder of the CB leaving a huge void in the center of the field. We should have also attempted some quick slants to the inside that Holmes seems to turn into huge gaines more often.

We only went no huddle one time, and in turn moved the ball down the field on them capping that drive with Wallace catching that 40 yard TD pass.

Wallace & Holmes were lined up one on one with the CB a lot this game. Ben did very little pump faking. Would have worked like a charm to pump fake a curl or out to a WR and then have them turn it downfield and down the sideline.

Reed should be embarrassed that his kickoffs are always so **** short and that tackle attempt was pathetic. He should have either took the angle from the dude forcing him out of bounds or forcing him to try and run Reed over where he would of at least tripped him up.

Gay looked pathetic getting bulled over as well. Hope he learned his lesson to tackle low instead of taking on a RB shoulder to shoulder.

Overall I would say a somewhat lackluster offensive performance (yes I am saying this even though Mendy fumbled on the 5). We were only 4 of 12 on 3rd down and I think it is ridiculous to attempt to have a 'balanced attack' with 26 pass plays and 20 running plays vs. a bad secondary that is also missing a starter. Gotta attack that. If they are dropping so many people to overcompensate for a crappy secondary, then we should of run it down their throats. Either way, crappy offensive performance in my mind anyway.

That's all you had to say. Polamalu also made the tackle on the pass play that took the ball down to the 1/2 yard line. That tackle saved 4 points.

That's about as solid of an assessment as I have seen

I forgot about the tackle at the 1 ! You're right. The guy is simply amazing and he's doing it on a bum knee.

I don't have a dvr but on the tackle at the one, wasn't Troy caught looking in the backfield?the ball was caught just past him and Troy made a great recovery.I think he could have broken up the pass if he was covering the guy.
