    Default Wednesday Injury Notes...

    Wednesday, December 01, 2010
    Roethlisberger, McFadden practice

Both Ben Roethlisberger and cornerback Bryant McFadden practiced on a limited basis Wednesday as the Steelers began preparations for Sunday night's game in Baltimore.

That's good news for the Steelers.

Roethlisberger was still in a walking boot Wednesday morning to stabilize his sprained right foot. But trainer John Norwig came up with a shoe that held the foot in place and allowed Roethlisberger to go through team drills.

McFadden made it through practice with no apparent problems with his injured hamstring. How well the hamstring responds Thursday will be a be test for McFadden.

[HIGH-LIGHT][/HIGH-LIGHT] A number of Steelers players expressed disgust with the league in regard to its fines of James Harrison.

But so did Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs in a conference call with Pittsburgh reporters.

Apparently, the league has done what nobody else has been able to get the Ravens and Steelers to agree on something.

Ben Roethlisberger (foot) was limited in Steelers practice Wednesday.
Big Ben is experiencing some pain in his sprained foot, but the Ravens aren't making any bones about it: He's going to start on Sunday Night Football.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin expects Ben Roethlisberger (foot) to practice Wednesday.
He might be limited, but the good news is he'll be on the practice field a day earlier than expected. Big Ben is in no danger of sitting out in Week 13.

Troy Polamalu (Achilles) will miss practice time again this week, but will suit up for Sunday night's game against the Ravens.
It'll be the third straight week he won't practice much, and it's something that seems likely to continue for the duration of the season. The strained Achilles hasn't affected Polamalu's production. He's picked off a pass in each of the last two games.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Byron Leftwich would start this weekend if Ben Roethlisberger (foot) is unable to go.
Big Ben is fully expected to play, but this clarifies the backup situation in Pittsburgh. Leftwich earned the No. 2 job a few weeks ago and has evidently held off veteran Charlie Batch, who started two games earlier this season while Roethlisberger was on suspension.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said OLB James Harrison might have to change his technique to avoid any future fines.
Harrison has been fined another $25,000 for roughing Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick Sunday, bringing his fine total up to $125,000 for the season. It's the first time Tomlin has acknowledged Harrison might have to change the way he plays, but ultimately we don't see him doing anything differently. He'll continue to be an IDP monster.

The Steelers believe DE Nick Eason (MCL sprain) has a chance to play at Baltimore in Week 13.
Chris Hoke filled in for Eason, but things are finally look up at defensive end for the Steelers. Brett Keisel (hamstring, calf) will be a full participant in Wednesday's practice, with an eye on returning to face the Ravens.

Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Tuesday that he expects Ben Roethlisberger (foot) to start at Baltimore this week barring a setback.
Big Ben is wearing a walking boot as a "protective" measure, and he could could miss Wednesday's practice. He's expected to return to the field by Thursday, however, as the Steelers implement their game plan. Big Ben played through the injury at Buffalo. It's not serious enough to keep him out of the big AFC North tilt this week.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is optimistic about DE Brett Keisel (calf) returning in Week 13.
Keisel finally recovered from his nagging hamstring injury, only to tweak his calf late last week. He'll upgrade a defensive line that will try to contain Ray Rice in Week 13.
