    Default Cincincrappy?

Does anyone CARE about this game? The line is Steelers by 9, give or take a 1/2 point. Should be a laugher, right? Should be as lopsided as my friend Mike after a large pie from Vincent's.

The Bengals have shown a propensity to occasionally show up and play a good game, i.e. Ravens, Bucs, Falcons and Steelers.

Have they thrown in the towel on 2010, I doubt it. But after the last couple of weeks I’m just ready for a good Steeler *** whoopin’! Something in the neighborhood of triple the spread.

And the weather looks great. Rain and snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 70%. At least they put down new turf at Heinz…that makes me feel better.

Tell me we’ll run right through the 24th ranked rush defense in the NFL. Tell me with the patch work OL, Ben will have the protection he needs (OK, they only had one sack on Ben in the 1st game). Tell me this is an easy win…….I need one!!!!!!!!!

A Steeler win that doesn't go down to a gut wrenching finish would be a pleasant change of pace. With no injuries to boot.

Los Bungles might appear to have thrown in the towel on the season, but I suspect their seeming dislike of us (I say seeming because they were rather generous and spotted us 7 points straight off last time) will fire them up.

The trick is to get them down, keep them down and kick them in the figuratives while we're at it. Consign them to a number 1-3 pick just to watch Mike Brown cringe as he reaches for his cheque book.

I also get a "trap game" itch just looking at the last fixtures on the list. Complacency is what killed us last year - it's time to try to bury the last few games and see if it's enough to get us a bye week.

I'll be extra happy if we can Raiderfy them.

I really don't see how everyone continues to say that they threw-in the towel already... Were'nt they up on New Orleans 30-27 at the 2-minute warning?... I dunno, but I would think that if they threw-in the towel, that game would've been a blow-out.

I agree with you that they will want to play the spoiler role...

... Never underestimate a divisional game.... And as for "does anyone really care about this game?" (opening thread comments)..... I do.

The Bengals almost always seem to get up for us too, no matter how good or bad they are. And they have enough weapons to where they're never out of a game either. We were up on them by 20 and almost blew it. The Saints were up on them by 14 at one point and had to score a last minute TD to end up beating them. Basically, you need to get up on them early and not let up. Learn from the first game that no lead is safe.

    X2 on a couple points

They were in the game with the Saints last week until a stupid off sides

They will want nothing better than to play spoiler

Never, never, never underestimate a hated division rival

Game plan for them as if it was last year!

What fun would that be??? J/K, yes to put a boot on a teams throat and choke the life out of them early would be great!

The very LAST thing we need to do is take this game lightly. It might be tempting to do considering we play the Jets next week, but this is precisely the type of game you can't take for granted. Hated rivals, divisional foe, playing a team that is only looking forward to the off season. This game has upset written all over it.

If we lose this game, all the gains from beating the Ravens get wiped out.

POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS SHOULD BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON!

Cindy Nancy's style of loss this year seems to have been to contend and then self-destruct late in the game. There have been a couple of deviations from this but...

It would be interesting to see what happens if the wind/snow forecast happens. Palmer's long range threat would be restricted, leaving the main chunk of the workload to Benson and Shipley.

Doctors clear Steelers' Smith to begin lifting weights

    By Kevin Gorman, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
    Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Defensive end Aaron Smith had an MRI on his torn left triceps and was cleared by team doctors to start lifting weights, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday at his weekly news conference.

"He's doing pretty good," Tomlin said. "We're going to take another MRI in about two weeks or so and see where that takes us, but we're encouraged by his progress. There's no setbacks in his recovery. It's time to take the next step and now start tossing a few weights around, which is good news."

Tomlin is optimistic that Smith could return in time for the playoffs, which is why the Steelers didn't place him on season-ending injured reserve.

"That's been our intentions all along," Tomlin said. "This is not charity by any stretch. We're not in that business. We're in the business of winning football games. We thought it was a possibility that this man could make it back and help us. He's doing what he's supposed to do; we're doing what we're supposed to do, which is win. Hopefully, the two things converge and meet."

    • Flozell Adams left the Baltimore game with what Tomlin called a "mild" high-ankle sprain, which could limit the starting right tackle in practice this week. Tomlin said Trai Essex is the frontrunner to start if Adams can't play. Tomlin added that the Steelers will continue to limit strong safety Troy Polamalu's participation in practice early this week as a precaution.

    • Tomlin said he was "a little uncomfortable" finishing Sunday's game with one tight end and six offensive linemen and was asked if wide receiver Hines Ward was a realistic replacement at tight end. "We have a bunch of volunteers," Tomlin said. "It doesn't necessarily mean I want to use them." Tomlin, however, didn't discount defensive end Brett Keisel. "He probably would be the first place I would go," Tomlin said. "He's an awesome athlete."

    • Tomlin said Shaun Suisham's 45-yard field goal into the wind was actually 2 yards beyond their agreed-upon range in warm-ups, but that he gave the kicker a "competitor's opportunity" and was rewarded. "That wind was significant at that end of the stadium," Tomlin said, "so it really wasn't a surprise that Baltimore didn't attempt a field goal at 48, 49 yards in that same direction. Forty-five was pushing it."

    TOMLIN'S TAKE

From Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's weekly news conference:

On QB Ben Roethlisberger continuing to play with a broken nose:

"He's a competitor. I think I even said it after the game: We expect that from him — not that it goes unappreciated, just that we expect that from him. He expects that from himself. He's our quarterback. AFC North football is competitive. The series against the Ravens is a competitive one. No one is going to leave that stadium extremely comfortable, on either side. We understand what playing those guys is about, and he delivered for us."

On whether he liked that the NFL fined two Baltimore players for hits?

    "Not my business."

On Steelers secondary getting beat deep against the Ravens:

"I don't like it when it happens. I'm not overly concerned about it, no. They've got some talented people. ... It's kind of uncharacteristic of us, but I think giving up big plays is uncharacteristic of any great defense. And, of course, we've got a desire to be a great defense. Hopefully, we don't make a habit of it."

On the Bengals' struggles since the first meeting:

"They're a 2-10 football team or so, no doubt, but they've been in just about every football game. They made us absolutely miserable last time we played them. This is an AFC North matchup. We expect no different. Sixty minutes of football is going to be required."

On finishing each of the first three quarters of the season 3-1 heading into season's final four games:

"I'm not ready to have a 'quarter' talk. It's Tuesday of the Cincinnati Bengals. They swept us a year ago. They celebrated pretty nicely on our field the second time they beat us. That's my focus."

i couldnt possibly see any worse of a time to play the bengals this year. Just played a bar brawl with baltimore, now at the top of the division, huge target now. Cincy hates us as a rivalry, and pretty sure they still hate us for blowing out carsons knee. they are having a terrible year and want to finish strong. I bet they cant wait to punch us in the mouth. If this isnt a trap game, then i dont know what is. Im more scared of the bengals this week then i was of baltimore the week without ben.

I second that. Let's hope Ocho or Owens don't have a chance to imitate Stevie Johnson. My money says they catch the ball.

bringing up how the Bungals celebrated on our field last year is a very good motivational ploy by Mike Tomlin...

I'd love to see a good mudder, rain snow mix with wind and the field getting plowed up. Players unis covered with grunge. And big hits that make a splash! How long has it been since we had a good mudder game?
