    Default Josh Rodriguez - Shortstop

On paper, this looks like a great pick!! This explains their diminishing interest in Hardy.

I think that will hurt a little if Adcock sticks...because I think he actually was a pretty decent talent. Nothing more than a back-end of the rotation starter, but still had some good upside.

No...not a great pick. This is a nothing pick. I dont see how we'd have diminished interest in Hardy for a guy who can't stick with an organization.

I would have taken Aneury Rodriguez...oh well.

I would have taken the other Rodriguez...a 22 year old pitcher with upside who could make in roads into our rotation immediately?

I don't think he will....but you can't rule out a phantom injury if they really like him..

He is young and was productive last year...and I think his K9 can improve a little actually...he's got upside. If ANYTHING instead of losing him I would have liked the Pirates to include him in a trade...but oh well.

Can't argue with that.......but they do have a need at the backup infield positions.

Josh Rodriguez does have a pretty good chance to make the team.

Pedro Ciricao...if all we're looking for is a backup...makes just as much sense as selecting Rodriguez. Not saying he's better than Rodriguez...just saying he makes as much sense as Rodriguez.

The Pirates missed an opportunity to get a good shortstop in JJ Hardy and a live-but-blocked arm in A. Rodriguez...for a 26 year old kid who is likely to be a backup?

Now what happens with Pedro C? Certainly isn't going to go down to AAA and block D'Arnaud and the rest of the gang.

Brad Chalk was picked first in the AAA phase of the draft by the Pirates......a real nobody who will serve as OF depth at Indy.
