    Default Available FAs??

DB Anthony Madison cut by Browns; Scott Kooistra, OL, cut by Bengals; and DL, Everette Pedescleaux cut by Denver.

The first two would have to go on the roster, but Pedescleaux, a big rookie DE, who had decent pre-draft reviews, could go on PS.

    Just some thoughts.

Personally, I'm not sure we could find room for the first two on our roster, or would even want to... We're well into the season, and it would take some time to learn their role within this squad to be productive IMO.

... Pedescleaux is intriguing with the way we've had a few injuries on the defensive side of the ball, and might possibly provide a bit of depth if we were to go deep into the playoffs and need it... I dunno... TBH, I haven't really thought about it.

Wait, isn't this Anthony Madison the guy we had playing ST for years?

    If not, forget it.

If so, what would we have to teach him??

Well, 'ya got a good point there.... My bad (I actually didn't put two and two together on that one...)... But Scott Kooistra would basically be learning a new system IMO... I don't know, I've never been a big fan of picking up players in mid-stream unless it's absolutely necessary... But then again, that's why I'm sitting on my couch instead of in the front office.

... Now, having said that, I think we might be thin enough on the defensive front that it might be adventageous to go with the kid that you mentioned to supplement the PS... Just my 2 cents.

... Another angle to this, is "would they be able to play in the post-season"?... I know that MLB has stipulations to players picked-up late in the season, and I want to say that the NHL does as well, but can't recall for sure... I don't know if there is anything buried in the rules about this because I honestly don't see it too often or just don't recall it... My initial answer would be "no, there is no limitation", but I am usually wrong on this sort of thing.

I have serious doubts that Pedescleaux would even get a chance to play if there were injuries. What are the odds that a rookie(from another team, which was cut)would get to play anything other than STs on this team??Highly unlikely, imo.

Oh, I agree that his PT would be miniscule if non-existent at this point... But if we have another or two go down, the "depth" (as shallow as it might be) wouldn't be a bad thing...

I agree.Having him on the PS wouldn't hurt a bit.Just don't think he would get any PT this year.Maybe finishing the year out on the PS so he can learn would help in getting him a shot next year??

I like the Rooney's approach to FA.

Stay away unless you need to fill a roster spot.

God "Bleedn" i love your sig photos!

Madison would fill a special teams hole and I would drop Keiwan Ratliff; Kooistra is a big offensive body, who plays G&OT. If he has the skills (he's a 6 year vet), I would replace Hills or Legursky with him.

Lastly, Pedescleauz is big (6'5" and over 300 pounds) and is a development prospect at a spot where have no real PS back up, save someone (Mclendon) who weighs 280 and probably is good at running scout plays or whatever those guys do.

You can add FAs througout the season and they have no playoff lmitations is my understanding of the NFL rules.
