    Candidates:

    1) Ben - 22/32, 320 yds, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 111.5 passer rating
    2) Pouncey - he's a stud, there are a lot of Pro Bowls in his future
    3) Wallace - 4 rec 104 yds. 1 TD, amazing acceleration on his 43 yd TD catch and run
    4) Mundy - filled in admirably for Troy, 8 tackles and solid in pass coverage
    5) Keisel - 6 tackles, 1 sack and has an awesome beard!

I would have to say that Ben gets it for me...

... Wallace was 2nd, but was also the recipient of Ben's good performance (or was Ben's performance enhanced by Wallace's ability?).... Hmmm...

I’d have to say Ben too, but why was he even playing in the 2nd half?

I just posted some commentary by Dale Lolley questioning this same fact... It was stupid, plain and simple... If Ben went down, our playoff picture instantly becomes quite bleak IMO... Pretty much could be said about Wallace, Mendy, or any other handfull of our starters... The 2nd half should've been relegated to the backups...

This was a tough one. Ben is a good choice. I also like Wallace. Until his sprint to the end zone, it seemed like we were going to have a tough time scoring. I think his play opened it up. However they were playing a team with 2 wins, and they should have their way with them offensively if healthy.

I have to go with Mundy, simply because he had big shoes to fill, and he stepped up well enough to for us to win. I was worried about this game being a trap game against a secondary that already struggles WITH Polamalu. If memory serves me, I believe most (if not all) of the Steelers' sacks were coverage sacks, which means the secondary did it's job.

Gotta go with old man Farrior, except for an early missed tackle it just seemed like he was around the ball all night.

Gotta hand one to Miller, 5 receps for 73 yards. Glad he's back. Wish Ben would throw to him more....would of had a TD at the end of the 1st half if Ben doesn't throw it over his head.

Ben gets the game ball from me.

In the gameday thread I was wondering why the Steelers had Ben run out of the shotgun in a designed bootleg. That was stupid as well as playing Ben all the way through the 2nd half.

On one hand, the Steelers obviously still need to work on the offense headed into the playoffs. On the other hand, using Ben in stupid situations and playing him when his work for the night is pretty much done is very questionable coaching.

Ben is Digest Player of the Week

By Bob Labriola - Steelers Digest

In a game against an opponent thatís 2-12, the early stages can be the most critical. If the underdog experiences some early success, and/or catches a few breaks, the teamís confidence can grow and make it a more difficult opponent.

Thatís what the Carolina Panthers needed on Thursday night at Heinz Field, but the Steelers defense gave up nothing early and Ben Roethlisbergertook care of the rest.

Roethlisberger completed 14 of his first 17 passes, and he finished the first half 16-of-23 for 259 yards with one touchdown, no interceptions and a passer rating of 121.5. When it was over, he had completed 22-of-32 for 320 yards with one touchdown, no interceptions and a passer rating of 111.5. He also ran for a touchdown.

Roethlisberger is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Mike Wallace, who had four catches for 104 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown; Heath Miller, who caught five passes for 73 yards; James Farrior, who had seven tackles, including two for loss, plus a sack; Brett Keisel, who had six tackles, a sack and a pass defensed; James Harrison, who had five tackles, a sack and a pass defensed; and Bryant McFadden, who had two tackles and an interception.
