Default Harrison misses practice with illness

Steelers' Harrison misses practice with illness
    By Scott Brown, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
    Thursday, December 30, 2010

[HIGH-LIGHT][/HIGH-LIGHT] Outside linebacker James Harrison left the Steelers facility early Wednesday afternoon because of an illness and did not practice. Harrison missed two days of practice before the Steelers' Dec. 19 game against the New York Jets but played in the contest. As expected, strong safety Troy Polamalu (lower leg) did not practice yesterday. Also missing practice because of injuries were running back Mewelde Moore (knee) and outside linebacker Jason Worilds (knee). Outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley (knee) was a limited participant in practice.

[HIGH-LIGHT][/HIGH-LIGHT] Polamalu, who has missed the last two games, is scheduled to practice Friday. While it is unlikely that he will play Sunday in Cleveland, Browns coach Eric Mangini said his team is preparing as if Polamalu will suit up for the 1 p.m. game. "He makes a pretty big difference when he's in there," Mangini said. "If he's there, he's hard to deal with in so many different ways, whether it's the running game, blitzing, the disguise, the threat he is in being able to create turnovers."

[HIGH-LIGHT][/HIGH-LIGHT] Ben Roethlisberger has not been intercepted in 136 consecutive pass attempts, the longest such streak by a Steelers quarterback since Kordell Stewart (159) in 2001. "Here we go. My first pass (Sunday) will probably be picked," Roethlisberger said yesterday when asked about what is a personal-best streak for him. "To me, that's one of the things that I try to pride myself on, not throwing interceptions. They drive me crazy."

[HIGH-LIGHT][/HIGH-LIGHT] A scoring change from last Thursday night's game gave Woodley half a sack on a play in which Harrison was given full credit for a takedown of Panthers rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen. The change gives Woodley nine sacks while Harrison has 10 1/2. If Woodley notches a sack against the Browns, he joins Harrison as the only players in team history to have at least 10 sacks for three consecutive seasons.

    This is probably Tomlin's fault.
I heard he's not putting hand sanitizer in the locker room like Cowher always did.

    But seriously,

That no-interception streak by Ben is a real bright spot this season.
The past few seasons sometimes it seems like he could lose games with the turnovers just as easily as he could win ones with the comebacks.

It's great to see the improvement in that area.

Harrison has another mid-week illness.....****, he needs to switch to a different restaurant......As far as Troy goes, congrats on the Steeler MVP, well deserved! But I'd sit him this week. The worst case scenario would be to play him and he aggravates the achilles, and we lose..........I'd rather have him healthy for a wild card game............Of course, I believe they'll take care of business......the one injury I hope isn't too bad is Woodley's.....definitely need him 100%.....

Ben's been pretty good at not throwing the picks but this year he's been at a career best. Despite missing 4 games he's only thrown 5 INT's. His next best would be 9 INT's in as many games in 2005 (12 games)

2006 Ben was an INT machine but he was pretty much a mess that season and in 2008 he had a slightly higher INT number by a couple but a lower TD number which made it look worse (17 TD and 15 INT). We won the SB that year so who cares

I wonder what the remedy or medical attention these guys get when, they do fall ill ? You really don't hear too much about these guys getting the flu or whatever during the course of the season or maybe it's just not news worthy.
